I am a supporter of pro-life. But I was wondering if some of my views on the situation make me a hypocrite, like the fact that I believe that in cases such as rape, incest and endangerment of the mother should be an exception. Also, does it make me a hypocrite of pro-life since I want to have children one day, but I take birth control now so I do not end up pregnant before I am married?

i'm pro-choice. but i'm also anti-abortion. i believe that everyone has the right to choose what happens with their body. and i know a lot of people disagree with me. but that doesn't hurt me. i wouldn't ever get an abortion personally, but i feel if another woman wants to, i want her to able to. there are so many children in this world with parents who don't want them and i think that abortion may control this.

about the birth control, i think it's healthy that you use it. if you aren't ready for a child, you shouldn't have one. i would much rather people prevent that problem through birth control if not absitenence, than abort the "accident"

No, you are not a hypocrite. It sounds like you have the same feelings as I do. Abortion is not a form of birth control---> At that point, it is a living being. If you do not want a baby, you should birth control ahead of time. Partial-birth abortions are the worst- lets go ahead and deliver the baby and then cut its neck and kill it. I do not know how anybody can call that anything except murder!
Exceptions have to be made when the mother's life is in danger and I have not yet decided on my views on rape- I think adoption is still a better option, but that depends on the age of the woman.
I am a little different than most on the topic of the day after pill- that to me is like Orkin- an exterminator. If you have any "bugs" in there, we will get rid of them for you.
You are doing the smart and the correct thing (aside from abstinence) to avoid a baby. By using your method a baby is never created that you may have to abort, exterminate, or murder. Congratulations on your choice!

Taking birth control is not hypocritical. And there are many on the pro-life side who view the exceptions as reasonable, as you're looking at situations where the mother did not make a conscious choice to become pregnant or where her life is in danger.

However, those constitute less than 5% of all abortions.

It just says that you are not an extremist. For example me, I believe that there is absolutely no reason to have an abortion. So I am pro-life and what is considered an extremist. I believe there are other things you can do for example adoption, that way the child still has a chance.
And technical you are a hypocrite for taken birth control, because in fact it is an abortion. What birth control does is one prevent fertilization and two if fertilization is achieved it will kill the egg. That there is abortion, sorry. And if you don't want to get pregnant before you are married, don't have sex.

Depends on who you talk to...

Pro-Life is a political label relative to the user. Some pro-lifers say they are only against "abortion on demand", others say they are against all abortions, others include contraception of any sort. One can take it too far and say that man and woman should be joined whenever fertility is present.

You didn't mention the other part of the pro-life issues: war, genocide, suicide, euthanasia, cloning, etc.

As far as the method of birth control you practice goes, so long as it only prevents conception (as opposed to causing destruction of a fertilized egg) I don't think anyone can fault you as not being pro-life. Some may fault you for pre-marital sex, though.

BTW, theologians have long regarded the instance of "endangerment of the mother" to be an allowable instance for abortion because, say in the case of ectopic pregnancy, the fetus primarily serves as an illness, rather than a human, and it is extremely rare that both would survive without intervention.

I have to wonder why you are against only some abortions. If you feel the baby is a life and should be preserved, then why would rape make a difference? It's still a life. On the other hand if you feel that irresponsible women should be forced to have babies they don't want as a sort of punishment, but that rape victims shouldn't be punished, then your position makes sense.
I'm happy to hear that you're thinking more deeply than before on these types of issues.

Not a hypocrite. I personally am pro-choice. I think abortion is a bad thing, but I am against the government telling woman what they can and cant do with thier bodies. We live in age when women can make good reproductive choices. They should be free to do so. People who don't agree with abortions dont have to have them.

No. In my eyes you are not. You just want the best for others and yourself. Someone has to speak for the unborn children that get killed everyday b/c their parents are ignorant and don't use any kind of birth control. For you I think it's a good idea for you to be on birth control until you are ready to be a mom. In the mean time you are making a better life for your children-to-be. You should feel comfortable w/ any decision you make b/c it is your life not ours. You have to live w/ the decisions not us.
I hope in the future you will not question what you do or feel b/c just as long as you are happy w/ you it will be okay.

"pro-life" means you're completely against abortion no matter what. incidents like rape or incest are awful...but it's not a good enough reason to take an unborn childs life. adoption should be the alternative...

as far as contraception...it's the responsible alternative to abstinence, so that you're not faced with having to choose between life or abortion...

Pro life means a life is a life no matter how it comes about. A lot of people don't know how devastating an abortion is. Check out this website and see what you think...it is very graphic and very disturbing, but it may help you make up your mind that a life is a life.
