At a non profit agencies it could be as low as about $12K and at a agencies that is a for profit it could cost $20K+. And those figures are for an adoption that is not specific (You will take any baby no matter the race, drug/alcohol use, etc.) The best way to find how much it will cost for you is to go to several different agencies both non profit and profit. Most have meetings with more than one couple in a group setting.

It depends on where you live, if you are doing international or domestic adoption, going through an agency or just going to a family law lawyer, trying to get an infant or an older child.
Some states are more then others. International is usually more expensive then domestic adoption. Sometimes if you use just a lawyer it's cheaper then going through an agency, but sometimes can be more difficult to get a child that way. Infants are usually more expensive then an older child because they are more in demand. And it depends on what race of child you want. Caucasion infacts are more expensive then any other race.
I would do a search online for your state and you should find some agencies and family law lawyers that would be willing to answer questions you have. Some have seminars, or classes you can take through them that will give you all that info.
We were looking into adoption at one point- we were told that we couldn't have children of our own- and then right after we started the process, found out that I was pregnant. So I have done a lot of research in our state. Like I said, do some research and see what you come up with.
