its such a tricky question..well being a doctor, I can tell you that there is no cut-off range above which you are declared a manic and below it a chatter box......As far as taking to oneselves is concerned, we all chat to ourselves more or less.....But it depends ....if you feel that you chat to yourself a lot(i mean within heart)...then you are surely fine......
Now I explain you why I am saying you so....Well psychiatry is such a complex field .....infact most of those who think that they are fine (but other notice them not fine) are having psychiatric problem..howsoever those who think that they have some problem psychiatrically (but other doesn't notice ), like your case , are absolutely fine.....
But still as I don't know you personally, I must say that you evaluate yourself and see if the problem you are having impinges on your daily routine or not.......if yes then consult your doc or ask me..

People do look at you in a strange way but that's alright, I sometimes talk to myself the reason why i do it is because I know I will listen and I know I will get an answer from it.

Yes. Try this experiment out: Enter an elevator and face the back wall... Clearly there is nothing wrong with that; it is just odd or socially deviant (which simply means "odd", not "bad"). Same with talking to yourself.

I also do it alot. Sometimes i feel better about a thought if i say it aloud. It makes what I feel more concrete sometimes. It doesnt always feel like a profound statement unless its said aloud. Unless of course if you answering yourself, which is bad.

it's not bad as long as you follow these rules.
1) As long as you know that it's you that's doing the talking.
2) And as long as you don't start answering yourself
