No, people should not beat their kids. No one should hit anyone. Hittiing kids just teaches them that it is ok to try to get your own way by using violence and that it is ok for a big person to hit a small person. Hitting a child is assault and anyone who does it should be charged and convicted and go to jail to be hit everyday by someone much bigger than them.

No. Beating kids is not only child abuse; it has future negative consequences as well. Males who have been beaten will more likely beat their own kids, and females who have been beaten will more likely marry or date someone who beats them. Also, it will hurt the relationship between the parent and the child. It won't teach the kid a good lesson, other than how to avoid punishment. In order to properly teach a child, you have to reward them when they do good stuff, and sometimes punish them when they do bad stuff. However, beating is too extreme of a punishment, while grounding and taking away privileges are much better alternatives.

depends on what you mean by beat. If you mean by discipline and getting whooped, then hell yes. That's why there are all these little bad a$$ kids out today because of the stupid laws that these people imposed about not hitting your kids and child services, that's bull crap. If little johnny is acting up calling his mommy the b word throwing a temper tantrum, she is supposed to sit there and just tell him now johnny that's not nice, your gunna get a time out??? please. That kid needs a whooping!!

ummmmmmm, NO. no offense but, were you beat when you were a child? If not, then why would you even ask! If so, then I'm very sorry to hear that and I believe you need some counseling. Children are innocent little people that didn't ask to be brought into this world so they should be cared for like little kings and queens.

Only if they have a reason. There's is a fine line which many people do not recognize between discipline and abuse.
Pain is factor which children will fear, and will not repeat the offence again. Life's unfair, so to all you whiny idiots out there espousing long-talks to children which never work, you know yourself.

Did you mean spank or did you mean beat? If you really meant beat I will have to go with no and those people should be reported.

not beat, but a hard stinging swat on the butt is sometimes necessary to stop real bad behavior.
