Has any experienced this and as a third option choice to live with it? I walk with a limp but not in pain...

I can't stress this enough...HAVE IT FIXED.

I ruptured mine in 1990 and although I had a really good physician, I haven't had a single problem with it ever since and I'm very active...more so now than I was then. Four months after the surgery I was back running again.

I ruptured mine, and believe me, if you want to do anything again, you need to get it fixed. It totally messes up how your foot/heel operates.
