There is no definitive "right time", it's really more a matter of personal readiness, and everyone is different. I'm a single father due to a divorce, and while the loss itself can not be compared, it's still a loss nonetheless. I took about 2 years following the divorce to gather my own senses again, to feel as though I wanted to love and live life again. Your child is the one thing you can always count on, and my own daughter has been that special person in my own life since the divorce. She can't replace the lack of mature conversation, nor mature company, but she really has enriched my life more so than any other mature woman I've ever met.
It will get easier for you to cope in time, and before you know it, you'll find another special someone to share life's ups and downs with. One important note here... Rather than seeking a replacement for your loss, look for an addition to what you have today. :)
Good luck to you!

I am 28 and a single mom....when you feel the time is right then start dating....the only suggestion i make is dont bring the children around until you know for sure that the guy is gonna stay....my ex husband brings our daughter around his girlfriends all the time and it really confuses her.....i have dated about 5 men since i left him.....she has only met the one i am currently seeing....Good luck to you....

Make sure you're ready and not rushing into something to just have someone in your life. You don't want to create a dependency on someone else, especially now...and with a child involved.
I waited six months after my divorce and that probably wasn't long enough.

When you have the yearn for it and feel comfortable it will happen. Don't confuse the feeling of need for the feeling of love. And don't think you can replace the one you lost because that wont happen
