I had a user, with no means of contact, say I was hateful, and I just didn't get it.

I don't think you were being hateful, but I think that you generalized a whole group of people. I believed that non-believers understand what they believe in. I personally just don't think that they understand the repercussions of their beliefs.
It's okay to ask questions here, that's the point, but be careful with how you ask, because sometimes the questions here are not really questions, they are statements in the form of questions. Ask yourself before posting....do you really want an answer?

there is no chance that you can win this one.
if you start the question with ' why do Some of the christians...' then everybody would answer with 'it wasn't me..'
if you start the question with ' i saw a few christains, namely , , , etc......' then you would invade their privacy..
i think, given the circumstances you stated your question very eloquently, and even friendly.
i would probably have asked something like 'what gives these stupid christians the right to assume that i (and many others) know knowing about their silly beliefs?'
see? im a much worse person than you are.
So, no worries.

If you meant it as a serious question. You should have phrased it a little better. The "can't we love everyone" enlightened crowd has a hard time realizing they are no different than anyone else.
If you meant it another way I apologize but I ain't laying down and getting kicked either.

I think you had a sincere intention. See, as Christians, and I am one, we are taught to witness Jesus Christ to everyone, NOT force it upon them. However, here on Yahoo Answers it's kind of hard to see who's Christian and who's not. So we have a tendency to witness to whomever. I cannot speak on behalf of ALL the Christians on here but as for myself I look at questions like this and answer them truthfully whether or not the one who posted it is serious or not. You'll have to be patient with some Christians, they haven't learned discipline yet. That doesn't means their bad people though.

I can understand the accusation, but you did give a disclaimer that you weren't trying to be offensive in your use of the blanket term "Christian." I think it would have been hateful it it hadn't been asked out of true curiosity, with a real desire to know. If it was one of those rhetorical, self-gratifying questions that only begs the answer the asker wants, then yes, it would be hateful. But what you asked and how you asked it was not hateful, no.

I read your other question, and have to say that you were not being hateful at all. I saw your question as sincere.
Pay this "user" no mind. S/he prolly gets offended at the drop of a hat. :-/

No, you were not being hateful. I thought it was a good question, though some of the answers make me cringe a bit. I saw the dude that called you that, and I see he has answered and quasi-apologized, but still...GRRRR at him!!!

no, maybe a slight bit stereotypical, but in order to not be you'd have to describe every single person you are talking about and that would just take too much time.

It is never wise to categorize an entire group of people. That is the core of being prejudice.
Never start a question with why are ALL __________ Or why do white people____________.
You automatically turn off a lot of people.

You say that all Christians think one way about an issues. I don't think you are being hateful but it is a little offensive.
