You are on the right track, almost.
Yes eating foods high in protien is good for you. The average male should consume between 100 and 124 grams of protien and the average female between 70 and 99 grams of protien per day. These are only average ranges, if I knew your current height and weight I could give you a more accurate estimate of your needs.
The real key to weight loss and maintainence is a balanced diet.
In nutrition, the diet is the sum of the food consumed by a body. Proper nutrition for a human requires vitamins, minerals, proteins, and fuel in the form of carbohydrates and fats. Imbalances between the consumed fuels and expended energy results in either starvation or excessive reserves of adipose tissue, or body fat.

That about says it all.
Personally I found that by drinking a high quality Protien based Nutritional Meal Replacement Shake twice a day, taking a multi-vitamin, and a few other dietary supplements I was able to lose 30 pounds in 2 months. A side effect of this program was my energy increased almost immediately and since then by drinking one shake a day I feel better and healthier.

Yes, you can lose weight on a protein diet. However, it gets boring and it's really not healthy in the long run and you'll quickly gain it back once you start normally again. it also puts your body in ketosis, which can be a strain on your kidneys. You would have to give up everything but protein and green veggies. Best to do a moderate diet; try Exchange Diet (look online).

Not really. Unless it's part of reduced calorie plan, eating a lot of protein won't do much of anything. To lose weight, you need to exercise and eat fewer calories.

Eatting a lot of protien will more likely slow down your metabolism and you will have less energy to burn off calories, I would try to focus on healthy grains and vegtables, foods that have a lot of vitamins in them to keep up your energy level, protien is good in moderation, its real hard on the digestive system. Good luck, PHB
