Where is the pressure sore (is it a dicubitus?) ? Is it from rubbing as in a misfitted shoe; diabetes? Or is it from being bedbound?
Protocol for these wounds is differrerent depending on location and if it has bacteria in it or is it from continually lying on the location. It will also depend on the "stage" of the wound (1,2,3 or 4) I would not take antibiotics or put antibiotic creams on the area. Assuming it's a 1-2, wash the area with antibiotic soap and water; or use over the counter washes like Hebacleanse. Apply a telfa bandage (non-stick) to the area and cover with gauze or 4 x 4 pad and tape. Change it daily. Soap and water will clean the area sufficiently and sometimes, too much antibiotic ointments will do nothing but hinder healing and make the area worse. Watch for signs and symptoms of infection: reddness, drainage, pain in the area. Sometimes depending on the depth of the wound, there is no pain.
Above all contact your doctor or a wound care nurse with questions. Good Luck.

well i have been on and off antiabotics for over a year and i get red bumps that come up all the time and itch and i scratch and it makes a sore... i am on special soap and anti-itch medicine.. but a lot of mine i think is nerves.. but i go back again the 28th of june...but i would go back to the doctor and let them know that the anti-biotics are not helping.. and they can give you stronger ones.. they gave me the strongest and it helps for a while but it comes back...you can also get anit-biotic oinment over the counter and keep using that and keeping it clean.. but if it does not get better you need to inform the doctor..they told me something was going around like this that has been hard to get anti-biotics to get rid of..

Well it depends on the size of the pressure sore. Some do very well with wet to dry dressings (you can try Neosporin directly on it in a large amount then cover with sterile gauze). Are you Diabetic? If so pressure sores take much longer to heal & you may need to see the doctor.Good luck.
