very well known 'joke' not appreciated by those of us who have lived there, certianly AOL took it out by not allowing the use of the name in the past, but that was a long time ago. It's actually quite a nice place, and it is pronounced Scun thorpe, and meant ' the village of Scun. Was created by the joining of 5 smaller villages when the Iron and Steel works came in the 19th century.
