I've got a dog and two cats, I only see my boyfriend at church once a week and talk to him twice a week on the phone. I'm not supposed to watch tv. I used to cope by reading books but I got that privilage taken away. I am stuck at home most of the time with 5 siblings who sream fuss and holler all day long. Just tell me something that I don't know about yet??

I spend about maximum 4 hours a day on the internet. Normally about 1 - 1-1/2 hours. I love helping people and giving them joy makes me happy. But don't know anyone that needs help.

There was a study that saw a correlation between depression and time spent on the internet. Of course, causation couldn't be proven; but we are social creatures, we need interaction with people, and studies have shown that even as infants, we have a need for 'face time.' So, maybe you should cut back the amount of time you spend on the internet, and spend more time with real people. (Of course, I don't know how much time you actually spend online...)

Is there ANY other group at your church that you can get involved with? Any other way you can help someone else; even if just around the house? Helping others is a great way to take your mind off your own troubles, and will probably help heal your soul, too.

(Sometimes I wonder if that's why I spend so much time here answering questions, but haven't gotten around to asking one myself!)

Also, when you find yourself thinking dark thoughts, take them directly to God! Spend as much time in prayer as you can, unloading it all on Him; He can take everything you can dish out!

Find someone else to help. Focus your thoughts on someone else's misfortune! Give of yourself. Depression is a very selfish illness. I don't mean to sound mean but there is always someone out there who could use your kindness. Start with just smiling at 10 people today. Send an elderly person a card. Visit a nursing home even if you do not know the people! Give! Do what you were put here to do. Life is NOT all about ME contrary to popular belief. Yes you may have to start small.....BUT START! TODAY!

Honey, I have close to a dozen suicide attempts under my belt. Depression has plagued me since I was pretty young. One of the things you have to change is your way of thinking. When depressed, a person tends to look at things through a dark cloud... the one hanging over your head when you're depressed. You need to write down in a journal of your depressed thoughts and then write how they are NOT justifiable. In other words, play "devil's advocate" with yourself. If you're spiritual, a good book to read is Joyce Meyer's "Beauty for Ashes" as this book helped me. You need to learn to stop those bad thoughts, even if you have to verbally tell yourself the opposite of what you're thinking. One trick is the "rubber band" trick-- put a rubber band/ponytail holder on your wrist and when you have a bad thought, snap the band and redirect your thoughts in a positive direction. Your brain will equate those thoughts with pain (on a primal level) and will start AUTOMATICALLY steering away from them. Learn the stages you go through BEFORE you get suicidal. Most people start having an obsession with death before they get to thinking about suicide... it's a process. I start dreaming about funerals or daydreaming before I get there, so I have learned to talk to someone THEN and not when I'm already down. I have not attempted suicide in years now, and I feel better for it.

I used to consider suicide when I had certain problems (university, medical problems, etc.), but I realised that there is really nothing I can't get over in a while, and my family would be hurt very much. I would recommend getting yourself a pet, or borrowing a dog from a friend. Get busy, spend more time with your family & boyfriend, watch a silly film...

it was exactly like that some years ago. the love of your family keeps you alive for some time but sooner or later you could come across something verrryy interesting and depression lessenes. it might not go away fully. you seem to have a boy friend problem. if this is the problem for you it WILL go away.

. i remember a friend in my school days saying the same thing you said. after nearly 20 years i hear the same from another- this time from the internet.

Trust and believe-when I say I know what you are going through-sincerely I do. Because you are saved, you have the power to cast out demonic spirits and things of that nature. Do you realize that life and death is in the tongue? Into your life even now I am speaking life as well as praying for you. Remember God loves you and He will never put more on you than you can bear.

jus read this once..

Sometimes i wonder why i struggle..
why i fight to live?
then i look at the stars shining bright admist the sky.. giving their light to everyone..
then i understand, that i live to give to the world.. what the world has given me..

i dunno whether these lines will make u feel a little better, but believe me life is beautiful.. if u don want to live for urself jus try living for others.. now u ask, how? u don have anybody to help, right?
u do.. the way u talk to others online, sought out their problems, is this not a way?
at times one feels like getting rid of all responsibilities, but this feeling comes to a pass once you know that these responsibilities make life worth living..
One day all ur worries will end, one day u will overcome all the problems of ur life, jus live to see that day n to feel that happiness.. live to put in efforts to bring such day closer..
GOD BLESS YOU...
