It took me a long time to bond with my son, say a month or even longer. It may seem like a long time to others, but I'm not one of those people who attach to others easily. I just kept doing the stuff I was supposed to be doing - feeding, rocking, singing, changing diapers, etc. Eventually, the bond came. Now, it breaks my heart that he's getting older and doesn't need me as much and in a few years will be going off to college.
Don't stress about it. Bonding will happen naturally and in time.

You don't say how old your baby is, but if it's still an infant just give it time. Many women feel that way at first; sometimes post-partum depression can cause this. Talk to your doctor or pediatrician. Or find a group of other new moms to share your feelings with. Main thing is to hold your baby and talk or sing to it often. The bonding will happen.

Don't stress about it- I felt the same way with my 1st child- I was a little freaked out because she didn't look like I expected (pink & bald) she was dark skinned and lots of hair. To be honest it took around a week or so to really "Bond"- I felt so guilty feeling that way but now in my eyes she is PERFECT so when I had # 2 he looked exactly like his sister and I bonded instantly and now when I see bald babies it looks weird to me!! Good Luck

This is a common and normal worry with new mothers, but...Just saying this means that you already love your baby, so I really do not think you have anything to worry about. Just love your baby, the rest will come naturally.

Do you love your baby? I am sure you do. That is the main ingredient in bonding.
Babies need lots of touch, when changing your child, make sure to stroke the arms, legs and put their hands in yours. Smile, talk to the baby, they recognize the mothers voice and repond to it.
Relax, your baby will feel your tension.
Don't worry, enjoy your baby and be the best mom you can be.

for me it took a little time... after they handed me him i felt no real conection to be totally honest... but something inside of me made me do what i needed to do for the little helpless human...feed him, change him, rock him, after about 7 weeks he started to smile and coo he began to melt my heart!! colic was a set back, who knew such a powerful sound could come from something so small... then he got a little older i'd say about 6 months and he didn't want anyone else to hold him or take his from me that really won me over! now he is three and i couldn't imagine life without him to love... even when i get after him and he screams..." your then meanest mommy ever"... i take it with a grain of salt because with the next boo-boo i know he'll come running

After you see your baby, you instantly relax, smile, and probably cry. You won't want to let go. It's all a maternal instinct. You'll do great!
