It depends. It sure seems that way, but if you live in an expensive are where the pay is good, you will find it more and more common that people will commute long distances to make more money.

Nope, I live in the UK and work in New York so it takes ages!
When I do use the London office from my home in the midlands 150 miles away I can do door to door in about 1 hour forty mins on the West Coast main line, so you could sell up in Surrey, buy half of Staffordshire and still be in the office in about the same time.

Yeah it's too long. I did the same commute from Great Bookham in Surrey to the West End for two and a half years. Then I got a local job and realised what real life was!!

Yes it is, you might be able to rearrange your train so that it is a fast(er) service or you arrive in London and can take the tube without any delay. I used to travel from Finsbury Park to Leatherhead and the longest wait was for a train at Victoria.

1.5 hours is considered a long commute where I live. But for others, it's normal. It takes me 14 minutes to get to work :-)

It is long. Fortunately you use the mass trans, so you could cut down on the time spent away from home by trying to accomplish work and personal goals by reading/ working on a laptop while on your ride.
Good luck.

That is a long time for travel. Is the pay really good? Do you get compensation fo the travel time? If not, I would find something closer. Is it worth having your time cut off from yourself, family and friends after work?

My husband works 8 miles away from home, but it still takes him one hour and twenty minutes to get there and the same back. It's the bane of his life and absolutely hopeless if we want to eat together as a family. It's traffic mostly. Thankfully, it only takes me seven minutes to get to work.

Yes that is long. At least you don't have to drive though. You can sleep on the train, or read a good book.
