Why do they keep finding accuracy to the Bible? Why is it actually considered a historic text if religion is all a lie as you would imply? Are you aware that they found Sodom and Gommarah and they were where the Bible said they would be. See they missed them for years because towns were commonly built over old towns. They hadn't been digging far enough down. Eventually they did and found that the towns really were there. As to the "fire from the Heavens" that is seen to have likely been a volcano and the first time people saw them. Think about it to them that fire that rained down was fire from the heavens. Makes sense huh? As to Lot's wife being a pilliar of salt that is also explained historically. She was covered in ash which would have had a high salt concentration, hence a pilliar of salt. The idea was she looked back saw what was happening and got mesmerized by it and that is how she ended up getting covered by the ash.

Because religion is just that- religion. It has a purpose of it's own, other than teaching us what may have happened thousands of years ago. Although there are some artifacts and scrolls that have been "proven" to be from those times, bottom line is that they are in existence for the sole purpose of swaying one to believe in God, Jesus, Jehovah, whatever. One cannot make another believe in god, or anyone else for that matter( Freedom of Religion, remember), and to put them in history books would take away that right. Anyhow, children are not allowed to pray in school for that reason, so it would be quite contradictory to put it in the history books.

Actually, most people agree religion is real- whether or not they believe in the religion is another thing.
Second, I believe in God, so it could go in the history in my book, but if you don't believe in God, why would it be in History? History is historical events based on fact that we know to be true. Therefore, it wouldn't be in History because not everyone believes in a god.

Religion is a very real thing. What is under scrutiny is whether their gods are real. Religion is such a huge thing, that it needs its own catergory. The history section would be overflowing!
As for spirituality-I know plenty of people who are spriritual without confining themselves with a dogma.

Ermm, simple thinking.
It's in the religous section that's why.
I'd say it's in a class all of it's own but religion effects history or history is effected by religion but they are two separate subjects to study and then combine

hmmm...are you in the history sections? probably not. am i in the history sections? no. is my house in the history sections? no. is the girl i like in the history sections? no. are my parents in the history sections? no. therefore i must deduce acording to your logic that almost none of my life exists, and i am actually immagining everything, which shouldnt be possible seeing as i dont exist and neither do you, so we should not be having this conversation. if you want something to help you in your faith, read the left behind series, or skim through the bible.

Religion is more than just history. It is a way of life. It is history plus philosophy plus faith plus a total immersion into a person's belief. I can understand why it has it's own category.
