Good lord, I can't believe how much misinformation you've gotten from the previous answers to this question.
1. Both breeds were developed in cold climates.
2. If they are bred CORRECTLY -- by a responsible breeder -- both breeds will still have the characteristics that allow them to live in a cold climate, and not a warm one. Purebred dogs don't "evolve", as they are not natural to begin with. They only change over time to the extent that breeders change them.
This means that both breeds SHOULD still do better in cooler climates.
3. You should NEVER clip, trim, shave, or otherwise cut the fur/coat on either of these breeds. Their coat is what insulates them in the summer as well as the winter, and shaving them will destroy their coat. It will never grow back normally again. Plus, you are exposing skin to full sunlight, creating a sunburn risk.
4. The Siberian has a shorter coat than the Samoyed, but it is no less thick or dense.
I don't believe that either one of these breeds will do any "better" than the other in a hot climate. What they both require in any warm climate is access to plenty of shade and water, or air conditioning if you have it. They will sleep during the hottest part of the day, and be active in the early morning or evening. Both breeds can handle hot climates if you keep them cool, out of the sun, and well-groomed -- a weekly brushing is absolutely necessary to remove dead coat and keep them cool.
I don't know about good books on Sammies, but there are better Siberian books than the "For Dummies" series:
* A New Owner's Guide to Siberian Huskies, by Kathleen Kanzler
* The Siberian Husky, by Michael Jennings
* The Siberian Husky: Live the Adventure, by Margaret Koehler
Please research both of these breeds thoroughly before you choose one. There are many other characteristics of each breed that are more important than whether they can deal with the heat -- for example, Siberians cannot be allowed off leash (EVER), are very social (not watch/guard dogs), and tend to dig and destroy things when bored. Neither of these are the right breed for everyone.
Good luck!

This answers fairly well. I would be more prone to go with the Siberian Husky but I have a real soft spot for them. They are such cool looking dogs. I would recommend that you get a dog that is from a show home though as they will be better suited to the heat and be less active than a lesser quality breeder's would.
Living Conditions
The Samoyed will do okay in an apartment if it is sufficiently exercised. It is very active indoors and a small yard is sufficient. Their heavy coat makes these dogs unsuited to life in very hot climates.
Living Conditions
They are not usually recommended for apartments, however they can live in apartments if well trained and properly exercised. Siberian Huskies are very active indoors and do best with a fenced-in large yard. Because of their heavy coats, these dogs prefer cool climates. One has to use common sense with respect to maintaining them in the heat by providing adequate shade and air conditioning. This breed prefers to live in packs.

I have two Huskies. I live in Ohio, where our summers average around 85-90 degrees. We have no problem with them. We leave them outside a lot during the day and bring them in at night. We just make sure there is plenty of water outside for them, and make sure you have a little doggy house or shade somewhere in case they want to get out of the sun.
I can't tell you anything about a Samoyed, Sorry!
PS. Huskies are from Siberia and I think it is the Samoyed that is from Russia? Both are cold climates but Huskies and other breeds are not bred to strive in the freezing climates like they used to... they evolved over te years.
Check out Siberian Huskies for Dummies. I got a copy at my local library. It tells you EVERYTHING! It's great!

I think a Samoyed would be the better choice. As Siberian Huskys come from Russia and are suited for the colder climates

if ur worryed about the climate...get a husky they seem to adapt better. I agree with zoogle too. u could rescue a purebred from a shelter and u would save its life. Dont get me wrong im not 1 of those petapeople. But there is no use in throwin a whole life away cause its banged up a little. Give those other dogs a chance.

beautiful definite the photograph of the puppy you exhibit is an alaskan malamute.. in order that which you're seeking to reap has ALREADY BEEN DONE You simply desire to make extra pets? Sorry, however they could be mutts, now not a brand new breed. Purebreds outcomes from breeding for a distinct reason... now not on account that anybody has this novelty inspiration of short of to create a fluffy wolf-watching puppy. As others have additionally acknowledged.. due to the fact the breeds proportion identical wellness problems, you are going to now not be getting rid of the ones issues through move breeding. The genetics for the ones problems are nonetheless there. To quite create a brand new breed you do additionally have got to inbreed again at a few factor to hold the trends you do desire. You wont continually get the preferred outcome from one or 2 matings. It takes many many generations of outcrossing, backcrossing, linebreeding, and many others to set up a breed.

You can get either, you just need to keep their fur cut short, and always keep water, possibly a kidde pool in the summer.
