we do it all the time. Using Acrobat Distiller to make a .pdf file
However, Acrobat Distiller is not freeware.
After installing Distiller it will appear in your print menu. Open the .dwg file you want int .pdf format, go to Plot and select Distiller. The drawing will be automatically converted to .pdf.
Good Luck

You'll get the best results and the smallest file size by converting your drawing to DWF. Autodesk.com has a free viewer that gives your customers more options at faster speeds than PDF or any other universal format. They even offer a free DWF writer that converts the files of many vector applications including Microsoft Office. When it comes to secure vector file formats, Autodesk does it best. There's no reason to risk incompatible or incomplete conversions through the products of another company.

Download a free pdf printer. Print your layout view to pdf format. Send the pdf drawing.

If you zoom it such that it fits on the screen and is properly visible, you could hit print screen. Open paint and paste it in there. If the visibility is not good, you may want to change the colors of the backgroung in Autocad and increase the line thickness.
