I've been around cats for most of my life. They are naturally clean and proud animals -- they don't want to urinate on your things as much as you don't want them to. Try gently putting the cats nose in the urine while it's still fresh and then putting them in their litter box. Say (in a none threatening tone) that the couch is bad, but the litter box is good. After you do that clean the area where the cat urinated with baking soda, vinegar and water. Make sure you do a patch cleaning first so you don't ruin the material. Baking soda and vinegar should eliminate the smell so the cat doesn't instinctively go back there to pee.

Clean the urine using an enzyme cleaner like nature's miracle. If this is a new behavior take the cat to a vet, Cats will pee outside the litter box if they have a UTI.

He should be neutered if he is not already, also depending on his age if he is 2 and up even if you have him spayed this behavior could possibly continue. spaying is not 100% positive to stop the spraying or urinating at an older age.
If he is neutered and he is urinating and not spraying he could have a Urinary tract infection.
you should see you Vet. either way.

ignore scratching posts. the reason you cat is scratching interior the domicile is likely actual one of two causes. before each and every thing it may't get outside. Cats want to scratch and in case you cat has outside get entry to it may scratch the timber, fences or decking. attempt to inspire it to apply the same section. the 2d reason ought to correctly be lack of self belief. It feels worrying and is marking its territory. supply it fairly some fussing, yet no longer at the same time as it truly is in basic terms raked your furniture!

Is the cat spayed/neutered? It could be marking it's territory. Get it fixed if it's not. Myself, I'd get rid of the cat. I don't mean kill it, but give it to someone else.
