A simple question with a simple answer :-
The airline which is the cheapest, reached your destination the fastest, and which has a track record of no accidents. Evaluate on these 3 parametres and dont bother about who owns the thing. It will be the best at the time you evaluate it.

I was impressed with Virgin too, more legroom, reasonable food, good service on the ground and in the air.
Also I have always found Singapore Airlines to be reliable, with reasonable food, nice little extras and good service.

Emirates. I have tried most airlines in my line of work but the service and comfort you get in Emirates is second to none. Also i find them reasonably priced compared to some other.

if you flying overseas fly virgin, more leg room, virgin supplies better food and you have your own TV on the seat in front of you.
