Had a guy I worked with recently that had the same problem. On the PC, he was one persona, and out of his home, he was so socially retarded (his words) that he could barely form a sentence or finish a thought. I think that what happens is some people have an easier time with the illusion of the internet because there is no truth there. There is only what you project, however in real life it is out in the open because everyone can see what you think are flaws. It is an addiction and a very difficlut one to be rid of I am sure. It also seems this is common in the 20-somethings nowadays, the ones who really grew up where every year there was another reason to keep them on the PC/Game system. The only advice I could give is either go cold turkey for a while off the Net, or find a way to get out and meet some people. Even a group that is into the same things you are on the Net, anything with social interaction that can help you get more comfortable with people. Good Luck!

I used to be like you and when I had an epiphany I was even more so. It is difficult to learn the games people play and the second vocabulary. If you can find a new friend to teach you some communication hand signs and then listen more to conversations it will help you feel you have a right to live. The phrases are fixed and have to be spoken exactly the same way each time to be useful to group combinations. Some find help in churches... some can't even mix there.

I'm close, I suffer from social anxiety disorder but i haven't been diagnosd ye but i'm sure that i have it. I sometimes just prefer to be alone most of the time, i don't have friends and i don't have a social life but at the same time i actually like that way, i like being alone. I'm currently working so i spend most of my time in the office and when i get back home from work i just watch TV and sleep. There are a lot of people like us in the world its just that they spend most of their time indoors and that's why we can't see them, i think its even possible that there are more people like us than there are people who are not like us.

Any way if staying indoors really botheres you then i suggest you speak to a psychologist or a psychiatrist, there's nothing to be ashamed of, you can also try and do some activity where other people are involved like sport or do church activities. Good luck!!!

I'm sure there's a lot people out there like you. The only reason why i think is because computer provides really2 almost everything u want and also very entertaining. But sometimes it will do you good if you go outside, u can't be forever playing computer, rite? Ask your friends to go out with you sometime. Trust me, outside is not boring. Its full of surprise, more than the computer.

Since you feel comfortable and happy with the way you are then just ignore what others think or say about you. What matters is that you feel good about yourself. Everyone is unique in their own way but chances are there might be someone exactly like you some where in this world.

I'm sure there are people like you. I try to balance real world/internet life so I don't become obsessive with either one. Go out and get some fresh air-it will make you feel better.

Some people find comfort in different things. Some like football, some pubs and clubs, some like meeting people - some don't. It doesn't make either right or wrong, just different.

Maybe you've had some bad experiences with people and don't want that to happen again. Make peace inside you. All people aren't bad. There are some really good ones out there.
