How do I find out the value of pictures and other household items?

I have a few paintings and other possible collectibles that I would like to sell but have no idea what their value is. How do I check it out?

Check your local Yellow Pages under "Auctioneers" or "Appraisers."
And check the classified ads in your local newspaper. There is usually a section for auctions.
You will have to pay a fee. If you have something of extraordinary value, such as a rare painting, you may have to consult an art dealer for referral to an expert appraiser.
