UK stands for United Kingdom, ie. England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are all united countries making up the United Kingdom of Great Britain. So really the UK is a NATION.
Also at the present time Scotland has their own parliament so really is an independent country in most aspects, Wales have still to go by parliament of England, as do Northern Ireland.

No The UK is not a country, it is made up of 4 individual countries. England, Scotland, Wales and N Ireland. Great Britain is made up of 3 countries, England, Scotland and Wales. Even though they are individual countries, they are not independent of each other.

and in that Kingdom , it has a number of states and territorie , that are united to make it Great britain
at first . ages back , when there was only Feudal Emperor system, it was Called Great britain.
After a century when Liberal Politicians cameto strike the Rides and tides of UK, they called it UK
and England came exactly for Visa point of views.
The International Visa authorities Name it England , and once u r admitted you have full access to whole UK :)
