Politics and religion, the two most avoided topics of public conversation, what did you expect?

Perhaps because it was offensive to Muslims, who do not believe that Jesus was more than a teacher/prophet, that you added the last bits of that question as if they were fact. Unless you lived in those times and saw the resurrection, leave others alone. Don't attack them in that way! If you weren't expecting a religious confrontation after asking that, you are either very naive or were not thinking clearly.

Quite honestly, I think your question was much more of an attack than any of the answers you received. Perhaps you should ask something along the lines of "Why do you feel another prophet was needed after Jesus?" or "Do you accept Jesus as the Messiah? Why or why not?" These are honest questions. But when you state in your question that "it is clear that Jesus was and still is(the greatest prophet)? Jesus is after all the Messiah!" you were the one who started a religious confrontation.

Perhaps it's not what you're asking, but how you're asking, and you have to consider that there are people here who are passionate about their faith and are very sensitive about it...

If you are genuinely seeking truths, you should perhaps put some thought into how you are phrasing your questions. Some of what you write may seem bland to you, but consider the feelings of others as you do your search. A couple of your questions are posted below...I personally don't care. If I don't like the question or are offended by it, I just ignore, but the ones below may provoke some to anger...

Why do you say that Muhammad was the "greatest prophet" when it is clear that Jesus was and still is? Jesus is after all the Messiah!

Or in regards to Paul, you asked...

Was christianity founded on lies?

And he admits to the church of Corinth: "I robbed other churches ... to do you service" (2 Cor. 11.8).

Did Jesus teach to lie and steal?

Well, I think it is the way you asked the question! The first part was simple why? But then you went on to say why not yourself...

Anyone who is really 'into' religion was bound jump onto the defensive rather than to look at the original question. Right?

You should have just left it as "Why do you say that Muhammad was the greatest prophet?"

I have just clicked the link and can I just say that you were hardly lectured!!
People answered your question openly and honestly depending on their individual views.

Your question itself was lecturing..............Telling everyone that obviously jesus is the best etc.

If you don't want a confrontation then don't post contreversial subjects that are close to peoples hearts and beliefs.

Now that WAS a lecture :P

I know the feeling! I answered a couple of controversial questions on religion and abortion and got loads of unsolicited emails lecturing me and saying they'd pray for me! Oh puulease! If they're not gonna like the answers, don't ask the questions!

People have differant beliefs and you got lectured because you stated your way was the only way. It's rather pathetic that some people think the way you do.

If you don't want a confrontation, why would you start one?

listen lady MUHAMMAD(pbuh) was the last prophet even jesus accepted the arrival of one last and true greatest prophet...if you dont know this then you might study your jesus ...im a muslim and yet i respect jesus but only as a messenger and a highly prestigeous man all of his believings and reliogen was put to an end at the birth of MUHAMMAD(pbuh)...i dont knw the irish-joker or whatever he is he said MUHAMMAD(pbuh) life style was disgusting i want him to clearify it...because the life that MUHAMMAD(PBUH)spended was much more simple and better then jesus...speak only when you are quite sure and standing on a solid ground...may ALLAH bless you , and that irish-joker 2...and one thing if its really a serious question then you should try to figure out its answer yourself...read both of them and then decide...take kare

But you asked a confrontational type of religious question! What do you expect?

2006-06-07 07:08:11 · answer #10 · answered by F R 4 · 0 0

I think its because you touched a nerve. The subject of religion can become very volatile especially when its been defended by Muslims and i am not trying brand any religion, but Muslims will agree they are very and sometimes overly aggressive when it comes religious issues.
