If bland is what you are looking for try the sada dosa or masala dosa at any South Indian restaurant.

You must not leave Bbay without eating bhel puri pani puri. The best ones are served on the roadside but I would advise you NOT to eat them there but try them out in any good restaurant.

PavBhaji is another speciality though you may find it a tad too oily, as its a mixed vegetable dish made in butter.Though, if well made it is DELICIOUS.

The best local food is served in tiny blink and you miss joints but I would not recommend them to you.If you are in South Bombay Delhi Darbar , Paradise , Aga Fast Food are great places.A restaurant called Chetnas opposite the art gallery serves a great thali which you must try.

Any Gujarati restaurant will serve food that is not too spicy, their dishes are generally sweet.
