If it is an unspayed female, she is in heat.
If it is an un-neutered male, most likely it wants to go outside and prowl.
If it is a "fixed" cat of either sex, and it displayed sexual behavior before it was "fixed", then it could possibly be displaying sexual behavior because it remembers the behavior.
Since it seems to be only "cryin" in the night (which is what I interpreted from your question), then it is probably not a medical problem, or it would cry all the time.
Cats tend to be active at night, so it could just be a very vocal cat. Also, if it's food dish is empty in the middle of the night, and it thinks that it wants to eat, it might be telling you that (I have a cat that does that, she insists that her bowl have food in it at all times, and as a result, she is a little on the chubby side)
You can feed it right before you go to bed and see if that makes a difference. If it is not "fixed", you should get that taken care of. If none of the above apply, just take it to the vet and see if they can correct the problem.

My vet said that there heats can last from a few days to a couple weeks until you get them fixed so try to be patient and rub her back to calm her down. Sometimes if my cat gets too loud I just scold her and she will calm down for a little while. You will know if she is in heat if you rub her and she raises her bum in an awkward position or if she is usually reserved and all of the sudden allows your other animals to bite and play with her.
Dont worry, she should be all right.

You have not stated if your cat is male or female. My female cat did this and I toke her to the vets and they said it was her calling which is better known as on heat. This could be days that she will be doing this. My cat did that for about 6 days and now she is pregnant and due to have her kittens in four weeks time. If you dont want her to have kittens take her to the vets to get spayed. But if its a male cat then please take him to the vets and see what they say. Good luck either way.

No. If your cat is female and not spayed, she could be in heat. Also, there could be another cat lurking in your yard that your cat smells, and it's trying to warn the other cat away from its territory.
If your cat seems to be in pain in any way, however, you should take it to the vet. Check for yourself by running your hands firmly over its body, neck, head, legs and tail. If you hear signs of distress, it's probably hurting or sick.
