The criticism of the military on this site are from two different sources. The first is from other Americans who are ignorant of how they are able to maintain the freedoms that they take for granted. These are the same idiots that think all military personnel are murderers. They will go on rants about how the president is a tyrant rather than making an informed intellectual argument. They are not worth the time or energy because they don't have the intelligence to research a topic before running their mouths. The second is from some foreigners that have had nothing but the extremely liberal media to use to gain an understanding of US policy. Not all (nor even the majority of) foreigners are like this but you'll notice a lot of the critics on this site that are trashing our military are doing so in broken English.

Don't waste your time worrying what either of these types of people say! It is because of our military that they have the freedom to say it at all, but you are never going to get them to admit it!

Recent statistics (census 2000 data) show that less than 1/10th of 1% of our population will serve in the military.

Whereas previous generations had a fairly broad common experience in the military, today's generations have no knowledge of the military, the service to a larger ideal, etc.

This is really exemplified by the rank stupidity of most of the statements that you hear from liberals.

Never having been a Ranger (1 bn 505 PIR, 82nd ABN), but having worked with the Rangers, all I can say is: Rangers lead the way. Keep up the good work guys.

As Einstein once said......Two things are infinite ...the universe and human stupidity. He was so right. And besides pot and wierd coffee is great. You should try it sometime along with thinking about why you fight for a president who doesnt even know who you are or whether you will come back alive or not. Its not about the media being liberal or radical or right wing or left wing. Its about the truth. And we all know what some of your buddies are up to in Iraq. How does it feel to kill kids. Does that make you feel oh so brave?

I come from a long line of military in my family. Including my husband who served with 3rd BN Rangers and my son who was in Iraq for 15 months, my nephew who is there now and my close friend who is leaving for Iraq. I have not served but I whole heartedly support our soldiers. Those who critcize don't understand the sacrafices you have made and so they complain. There should only be two words said to and about our troops and that is
THANK-YOU !!!!!!

I've never served in the military, never wish to and cant see why anyone else would be stupid enough to join..im English, so our 'left wing media' doesnt exist..and im sorry to break it to you guys, but if it takes a civilian to tell you guys killing unarmed civilians is wrong..well, i pity you. American soldiers always seem to have problems dealing with people 'inferior' to them..y'know, the 'ragheads' and the 'kooks'..i love it btw how you criticise liberals as coffee drinking pot heads...loser...

To the commentor above, most Americans seem to speak broken English...the poster cant spell weird....and you dont seem to able to accept that someone might actually not think like you..welcome to the liberal world :P

because they don't understand why we do what we do. were not over there for anybodies freedom its because we were told and we just want to go home. so we go there do our job and go home. and maybe by us doing our job Iraq will be free who knows. but our mission accomplishment is making sure the brother to the left and right of us get home. I'm sure you guys fully understand. its just hard to put it in words. they think its so easy to go there get shot at, blown up or whatever clever little thing they want to do today. like we can just go over there and say hey excuse me can we just stop fighting and plant flowers sing songs and drink bottled water. they must be out of their fuc*ing mind. trust me if it was that easy we would of left a long time ago but these idiots want to keep placing IED's and shooting at us. so how can we just leave a country that has retards placing bombs in road kill. yeah OK that's smart. you know my platoon commander put it best when he said that the people in the military are the normal ones, its the civilians who are fuc*ed up. take care brothers.

its in man's nature to question things.

soldiers have to live and die by obeying orders - so its much harder for them to accept criticisms from those who are not serving the military.

soldiers should not lose this gift of questioning things. you are more than just cannon fodder. if you think hard enough, you'd realise that you are in a noble profession but definitely not doing the right thing in killing yourself in Iraq or Afghanistan while Osama is still having a good time and Bush & Cronies are getting fatter and richer ...

I'm not sure, and I have never understood why they do it.
I believe that they are scared, maybe of having to participate in warfare, maybe of having war of terrorism come to them or maybe of dieing.
I wish that these people who criticize would have more respect for the military doing their job. Some times the job isn't always great (sometimes not warranted) but the military has a function and we'd be lost with out them.

i agree that the people who havent seen combat shouldnt judge what they see in the news. my guy came back from iraq really diff and really disturbed from what he saw and did. he was worried that i wouldnt love him or i would be ashamed of him for some of his missions. well i want everyone to know that no matter what those soldiers over there do its for a reason to protect their own lives or someone elses. so stop judging or drag your butt over there and see if you would do the same thing in those situations!

VERY GOOD QUESTION!!! It seems unfair to my husband and the men he works with (combat MOS, he only works with men) to be cut down by people who are so uneducated and don't know work from a hole in the ground.

Support our Troops!!!
