How could someone even think to publish a book like this...there IS proof of christ...hello, the shroud, the tomb, the ark...those are all parts of the bible and have been found...just saying that this book is a work of fiction will not cut it because it has led many people to think that Jesus was just another man and he was not divine and worst yet...he married...he could not have married becuase he could not bare mortal sins...he was holy remeber? Anyone who reads the Bible knows this...and to say that he was married to a whore...that should be outlawed in this country..The USA was founded by the laws of God and i believe that there should be NOTHING that contadicts that FACT!!!

While I was offended by the DaVinci Code, it was not for its suggestion that Mary Magdalene and Jesus married. Actually, although very, very improbable, that is possible. It would not contradict the Bible, nor would it make Jesus any less holy. I was offended that it took historical events and either twisted the facts, or ignored them completely. This book claims to be a ficticious novel, but it also starts off with saying "FACT:... FACT..." It basically leads the reader to believe that all the historical events described are depicted accurately, when most of its history is just as fictional as any other part of the story.

However, I am also offended by your question. As Christians, we should know better than to lie about our "evidence" like what takes place in the DaVinci Code. You, however, have done just that. Most of the Christian community, and all of the scholarly community has rejected the authenticity of the Shroud of Turin. It is NOT proof. There have been at least three "Noah's Arks" discovered, but no conclusive evidence of any of them. While I agree that the empty tomb bears witness, not in the way I think you mean. There is no tomb that we can go to today that we KNOW is the tomb of Jesus. The testimony we find in the Bible actually testifies to itself, however, that the tomb was empty.

Second, there is NOTHING in the Bible, or elsewhere to suggest that Mary Magdalene was a prostitute (or adulteress), let alone the woman that was caught in adultry (In fact, there is considerable evidence that the story you mention does not even belong in the Bible - look in any non King James Version Bible, and it will even say so).

While it is true that the USA was founded in many ways on the Bible, several of our founding fathers did NOT believe in the Bible. Do the research.

However, the most offensive part of your question is the later comment. You call others idiots. This is clearly a sin (Matthew 5:22). You accuse people of going to hell, but only God has the right to judge that. We are to pray for our enemies, but you only wish God's blessing on those who agree with you. Your attitude is not that of Christ.

First, marriage is not a sin and I don't know where you get such ideas. And we should keep "facts" out of religion and history unless we can prove them. Yes there is some evidence for Jesus and DVC doesn't question that but it only says he was not god. And for your information the Magdalene was not a whore as you claim (post your scripture where it says that the Magdalene was a whore). Perhaps you have been reading too much bible and you're confused? FYI Jesus was married to the Magdalene and even your bible says so where it mentions a wedding in Cana, and I just wonder who got married "on the third day"? Read it carefully and you may find that it could only have been be Jesus.

BTW, how your country was founded has nothing to do with this matter.

Oh, almost forgot to mention that they (Mary & Jesus) practiced sexual intercourse like every married couple, and this is also not a sin. Now whether this resulted in offspring as some traditions claim I don't know.

It amazes me that so many people have been offended by a STORY whereas no-one has even said anything about 'The Holy Blood, The Holy Grail', a book factualising alot of the theories used in 'The Da Vinci Code'

Bare in mind that alot of what you are saying is only what you read in a book anyway (Bible) The bible IS a collection of stories too.

So what if it touches on a sensitive subject, enjoy the storyline and then put the book back on the shelf. There'll be another one to rant over soon enough.

Lol. To answer your question: No.
.
As for prohibiting it, I though you guys called the states the country of freedom and opportunity?
.
The da vinci code is not meant as an offence, and certainly is not offensive to most people who have a SLIGHTLY open mind. Even because it IS just a work of fiction. Plus the book doesn't say he was married to a whore. The book doesn't call mary a whore :)
.
g'damit! When will people stop taking offence at such silly things as this? First it was the islamic comics, now the da vinci code... when will it end?? More wars, I guess...

Not a chance, The USA was founded with a separation of church and state. Simply stated the government has no say on what people choose to believe. The government has no more right to outlaw the Da Vinci Code than it does to outlaw Christianity.

Its a great movie, have you even seen it or are you just regurgitating what others have said about it.

I am also offended but I understand that there are people (like the one who wrote the book) who use their God given talent of creativity in a WRONG WAY even to the point of writing a disrespectful book about God.

Just pray that the people who read and watched the book and the movie won't get sidetracked from believing who the real Jesus is.

The knife in Peter's hand represents the sword he used to diminish off the soldier's ear even as they got here to arrest Jesus on the backyard of Gethsemane. there is no truth to the Da Vinci Code. study many different renaissance artwork & all youthful adult adult males look effeminate with lengthy hair and no beard. that's John sitting next to Jesus in Da Vinci's very last Supper & not Mary. Edit: Peter with the knife also represents his vow of following Jesus onto lack of existence yet he may deny understanding Jesus 3 situations earlier the poultry crowed.

Hey...wow...first the last thing I knew Da Vinci Code was in the fiction section..if it was non fiction than you could be offended and another fact that you are surely immature like other people who are going against an average book that contrasts of controversy issues...so what you wrote is a load of crap...no Jesus did exist and still exists today...

It's just a movie for Christ's sakes. Get over it and move along to the next thing that gets you all worked up for nothing. According to the bible, didn't he heal her and turn her away from being a whore? Next thing, didn't God say that he blesses marriages if you ask him to?
How bout the movie the Omen? It's got everyone worked up thinking that yesterday was going to be the end of the world. Your not going to attack that?

What tomb? Shroud, wasn't that been determined it's a fake scientifically? Noah's Ark? Was Jesus on it? I don't believe he was, was he? Maybe we should be open-minded, unless one is a fundamentalist. After all, I'm sure most of us want to know if he is for real. No offence, too much brainwashing these days and we never know why we are named this or that .'cos we were born to simply accept it as given to us since childhood, just like everything else.
