No. Suffocating, is not a cause of death, unless is accidental (which isn't very often) or choking on a piece of food or a small toy. A lot of small toddlers die from asphyxiation/suffocation when they swallow a small object. Also SIDS, or Crib Death, has been blamed on asphyxiation or suffocation when they lay on their tummy. That is why you always lay a baby down on its back so it will be able to breathe. You are right, it's not being able to breathe. If an adult dies in this matter it is usually suspicious and determined murder! People just don't die this way. People with Asthma have an attack that causes this problem that is why it is so important to control Asthma and its triggers so the person doesn't get this bad. So even the folks with Asthma whom die from lack of oxygen, which is what you mean, the lack of oxygen or asphyxiation, is secondary..the died from an asthma attack that went out of control.

No everybody does not die from asphyxiation. We die from lack of oxygen to the cells and tissues. If your airway were blocked like from choking or strangulation then that would be the cause of you being unable to breath. This is called respiratory arrest.
Without the capability to breath our heart starves for oxygen. Our heart is the pump that circulates the oxygen to our brain and body organs. So Asphyxiation is a cause of respiratory arrest followed by cardiac arrest followed by biological death.

Most natural deaths occur from respiratory arrest secondary to cardiac arrest. Asphyxiation is inability to move air usually due to upper airway blockage by a foreign object. So, no not everyone dies from asphyxiation. Our lungs simply stop working because we can no longer move gases in and out of our blood.

Inasmuch as "Asphyxiation" means 'lack of oxygen' - then - yes, everyone does indeed die from asphyxiation.

Though the causes of this asphyxiation can be many and varied!

pretty much just about everybody dies of asphxiation because if you stop the heart air is not circulating through the body so if you shoot someone in the heart they will die do to asphyxiation!

No, I have seen many of ze people kick ze bucket. Some ze heart stop, some ze brain first zen ze heart. Some ze lungs fill vith ze fluid. Vhen ze lungz fill vith ze fluid causing ze asphyxiation, jes it stops ze ability to breath. Houeverz zat is not alvays ze case in all death. Sometimes ze body jest stops for ze other reasons vith not going through ze pain of ze asphyxiation.

Yes that means you don't have the ability to breath. It is not the only way to die though. Some people die because their heart stops beating or they bleed to death.

it depends on how long you have been asphyxiated. How long can you hold your breath? Beyond that, there could be brain damage or blindness etc or even death.

if there wasn't any oxygen in the atmosphere then everyone would die of asphyxiation

As long as nothing is blocking our windpipe, and there is air to breathe, we can't "asphyxiate."
