I've been taking Ranitidine for over a week now & think I might be experiencing some side effects. I'm debating whether or not to go to the doctor or if these are normal & mean the medication is working? The doctor is also not completely sure of my condition, they were just guessing I may have GERD and this medication would help. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

I suggest you call your pharmacist and ASK. You should have been provided with information when the prescription was filled. If not, ASK FOR IT.

Ranitidine, is generic form of zantac, when i was using zantac i had no problems, then the cheap *** Insurance companies didn't want to cover the cost for zantac so my dr, changed me to ranitidine, i had heart palpatations for a week, when i told him that, he said it was imposible cause they have the same ingreedients, i told him, if that were true, then why pay for one, and not the other, i told him, I know how i feel and your a quack! so if you think you are having side effects, then tell him too try something else. thats what i did, and i took protonix for 2 yrs, and now i take nothing. but i had- IBS. and heartburn, with acid reflux desease. so my problem may be different. but control your health, he isn't a rocket scientist ya know,,, good luck.

Shouldn't get many side effects from Ranitidine but there are much better meds available than Ranitidine
