Your best bet is to drink lots of water and even fruit juice to begin with, and eat healthy sweet things for the first fews days or so. This counteracts the drop in blood sugar after the withdrawal of nicotine.
Nicotine would have given you mild pleasant feelings because it releases 'feel good' endorphins in your brain. (Zyban, which is the brand name for Wellbutrin. does the same, that's why they call it an anti-depressant)
This same chemical reaction can be achieved by other forms of activity or excitement, namely exercise.

Well done for quitting! I used the gum for a while then just stopped with all of it altogether. I think your GP is the best person to ask. Why don't you try that Zyban regime?

yeah... take two long slow breaths and call me in the morning... breath and enjoy the pain... you can make it without some other substitute... you are the best medicine and the best reason to continue with your struggle - good for you and keep up the hard work - trying to quit right now also

Gum works for some people, patches for others, hypnosis for others. Ask your doctor, and don't give up, I'm rooting for ya!

put a bit of epsom salt in a bath and hop in it for an hour or so, what it does is the salt water absorbs the nicotine in the body.
TRY IT.
