The History channel ran an episode tonight re: Asteroids. From their consensus i deduced similar if not actual conditions described in Revelations.
The end is coming, and all our resources, power, and influence will avail us naught against God's righteous judgment.
These same scientists even allow for heavenly intervention in earth's history. I have my own theory about the archaeological and geological evidence. I admit I am influenced by fundamental doctrine based in Jesus the Christ, Jesus of Nazareth, the very son of Jehovah.

That's an interesting idea, and we don't know for sure in what form God will bring Armageddon upon the earth.

However, the imagery of wormwood was used earlier in the bible to refer to apostasy from true worship:
(Jeremiah 23:15) Therefore this is what Jehovah of armies has said against the prophets: “Here I am making them eat wormwood, and I will give them poisoned water to drink. For from the prophets of Jerusalem apostasy has gone forth to all the land.”

We also know that earlier in the book of Revelation, it seems that Jesus used stars to represent congregation elders.
(Revelation 1:20) The seven stars mean the angels [literally, "messengers"] of the seven congregations, and the seven lampstands mean seven congregations.

It seems most likely that Revelation 8:11 refers to a loss of influence by apostate elders, Christendom's so-called "clergy".
(Revelation 8:11) And the name of the star is called Wormwood. And a third of the waters turned into wormwood, and many of the men died from the waters, because these had been made bitter.

How convenient. The doomsday clock has been reset to ~20 years from now - close enough to cause fear right now, but far enough away that no-one will remember this failed prediction.

I guess since 2000 came and went, and now 6/6/06 came and went, we need a new scare date to wait for (2012 will be the next one, but Christians won't participate as much in the fear mongering). ~20 years ago the nutters were saying that Chernobyl was the Russian spelling of Wormwood.

By the way, the most current analysis shows quite a wide margin of safety from this asteroid.

Yesterday it was 666

Today it is Wormwood.

What is it going to be next?

Just take it easy, there's nothing to be afraid of.

The world is not going to end.

The same fears have been around for centuries and it has been proven that the "signs of times" are only unconnected events.

Open your heart and don't be afraid to know more than what you were told.

And have peace.

Ironically, the Russian word for wormwood is "chernobyl."
