The race lives, goat. It was not used before the late 1960's in the US. Activist/professors started it as a slogan along their teachings against the "establishment". Some professor/ activists see Mexico as a race or a country of castes like Europe, and Spanish speaking as a race, not just a culture and language.
'Dia de la raza' Columbus Day in Mexico is the celebration of the intermarriage of the Spanish conquerors and the natives.
It is an ugly (group-think) collectivist phrase.

yeah, you got your question answered. I see an other point here. Notice how everyone is questioning your statement about how these Dimtwits were illegal aliens. If the laws were being enforced, we would mostly know that anyone acting like these dimwits, were either tourist, guests or worker visitors or Americans and there wouldn't be so much confusion about who was who. We are all running around guessing at what is going on and having to assume the worst cuz that's the way our gov. is being run.

ok I am hispanic so I can say this every race has their stupid people that makes the rest look bad... These obviously tacky people yes it is not literally translated but it is insinuating what you said. cabron is the equivilant to jackass. however you should not say illegal aliens because unless you asked them for paperwork you do not know this as fact. They could have just been tacky people.Sometimes people who appear illegal are in fact not and people who are illegal do not appear like that. People should be proud of who they are without resorting to ethnocentrism .

It means, "Long live Mexicans, asshole".

Get used to it, you'll be hearing it a lot in the coming years as they line up for Affirmative Action hires at the post office.

Actually, who cares what it means?

If they can't speak English just ignore them. They are no different than stray dogs, roaming around begging for their next meal.

I'd be concerned if you were in mexico and that happened to you, but not here in the US. They will always be the ones cleaning the sh*t stains off dirty public bathroom seats, so let them yell their jibberish, nobody gives a damn what they have to say.

Step out of the question for a moment, if Mexico keeps winning USA in soccer, why do they keep them out? Too jealous? Anyway, it means "Long live the race (mexican race), you dumba**.

It is racism at its purist. It is sad. If they are so proud of being mexican, they should be yelling that "s" in the streets of Mexico City.
Ugh.
