just make little suggestions every now and then such as
wouldn't it be nice if.....
or
i would really love it if you did....
my partner isn't romantic and just by doing this i got him to suprise me it takes a little bit but at least once a week now i will get home and he would have a bubble bath ready with candles around for him and myself to enjoy.
And i even get a romantic dinner every couple of weeks.
just tell him that you would really love it if every now and then he would suprise you and be romantic.

try asking him but if it doesnt work then leave him be. i really dont think you should ask your bf to do something he's not... what if he becomes something hes not and suddenly stops doing it? love him for what he is, not for what he might be or what he will be
