How do you remove the pieces of food in between your teeth...or gums when you are in a restaurant and somebody's talking to you and its not polite to stand up and go to the washroom. Do you gargle discreetly? Or cover ur mouth and run your tongue around your mouth?

Being polite doesn't means that you have to be submissive to the person you are with.

When you are at the table, either in a restaurant or any other place, and you are not feeling comfortable for ANY reason, being it that you might have food between your teeth or any other bodily urge, you are perfectly entitled to go to the bathroom at any moment, even in the middle of an intense conversation.

What is impolite, and actually very rude, is someone asking where you went and why. The person who makes an issue of you excusing yourself for a moment doesn't deserve your considerations, and you can pick your teeth in front of that person.

Just imagine the opposite.

You are in a restaurant, saying something very important to someone who is feeling uncomfortable for whatever reason you are not going to ask. ¿Wouldn't you prefer that person to excuse for a moment and come back with the problem fixed, so you can have all the attention you are asking for?

Don't gargle, don't cover your mouth, and don't ever think about chewing a gum in a restaurant!. The other person will notice an insecurity and you will make a fool of yourself.

Just stand up and go to the bathroom, and if the person is impolite enough as to ask what happened, just say a shoe was killing you.

You could use a nice solid 2x4 careening into your mouth. That would be a sure way to dislodge anything stuck in your mouth.

it's better to take a time out and go to the wash room, gargle and use the toothpick

I would cover my mouth and wiggle it out with my tounge. If I am not around anyone. I take the wrapper from the cigarette pack and get it out that way.

i always use a toothpick... actually, we all use them here...
it is acceptable i suppose... i mean like, the other person should know how terrible it feels to have food stuck to teeth right? well i suppose the other party will understand... its not like robbing a bank or anything right?
