In the OT, Ex., GOD tells Moshes, to instruct the Israelites to kill a lamb for the passover. Keep in mind, the killing of the lambs was not a sacrifice for sin until after the Mishkan was built. Does anyone know the significance of killing a lamb in Egypt at that time?

Ok a hint: The Egyptians believed in a pantheism of idolatry. The Lamb was one of the god animals revered and even worshiped of Egypt. Why kill the lamb for Passover?

Sadly, your question neglects an important detail...

...the Israelites were specifically allowed to choose either a lamb or a GOAT for Passover, both in Egypt and for later commemorations.

(Exodus 12:5) The sheep should prove to be sound, a male, a year old, for you. You may pick from the young rams [male sheep] or from the goats.

Hint wrong.

God used the lamb for future purpose of prophesy-The lamb of God who takes away man's sins. It was symbolic.
I might add Lambs are very Innocent of all danger and harmless. There were many shepherds than-people could relate to their innocents and their dependence on a good Shepherd. The one who looks after the sheep. The killing of the lamb-in future prophesy is of Christ death .He was the sacrificial lamb.

Are you trying to get to the point of the lamb's blood being put over the doorways, so the first born would not be killed, during the plagues? Or is this a question referring to something else during the time in egypt?

Because god was hungry for some lamb. Why else would he demand food sacrifices?
