I am going to be baptised this summer! (because I have chosen to walk with the Lord, and I asked Jesus into my heart this past year).
I was just wondering what baptism was like in your church.

I was baptised as a baby, but I think it was a bit different.(as if I could remember)
I don't go to Catholic Church anymore.

The Rite of Baptism (Baptism of Water) comes from the Flood (Genesis), it is the passage from one state to another. Water is used in various quantities. John the Baptist baptized in a river; however, the exact technique is not documented in the Gospels. There are other sources, but I would like to stay focus on the New Testament.
Baptism of the Holy Spirit comes in Pentecost, when the apostles received the Holy Spirit. This is documented in Acts and the Epistles.
Frankly, it does not matter what baptism is like outside of your church. I am sure that your ministers have the correct, biblical sound, ritual. What is important is that you understand what your passage is, from one state to another. Baptism is admission to the Christian Church (the elected).
I have tried to show you from the Christian bible what the Rite of Baptism is. If you have questions, you need to be talking with your ministers. They should be able to explain the ritual as well as the religious signification.
If you are interested in biblical description, you can go to www.gateway.com and search for the word "Baptism".
I am happy that you have found Jesus Christ. You can always find what he says in the Christian bible.

In order to be baptized as a Jehovah's Witness a person must learn about Jehovah and Jesus and the type of people they are and what their purposes are for the earth and mankind. For some this process takes many years and long hours of Bible study. Then, they request to be baptized but first they must go in service door to door as this is the way Jesus conducted his ministry while he was on earth. If after much prayer, it is determined that they qualify, they can be baptized at an Assembly or Convention. Usually there are several thousand people in attendance and the baptism candidates are questioned to see if it truly is something they want to do. If so, they are fully emersed in water symbolizing their dedication to God and to do his will. Upon completion they are recognized by the state to be ordained ministers of Jehovah God.

Baptism is nice at my church. I was baptized last year. I go to a big church and service is aired on television and online and in the sanctuary we have these big tv screens so we can see the swimming pool where people are being baptized and people are able to see their family members get baptized. We even have a separate building where the children's church is located and often there is a split screen so we can also see the children as they get baptized. Our church baptizes on the first Sunday of every month.

Just as Jesus was totally immersed in the Jordan. So too,Jehovah's Witnesses engage in total immersion upon baptism
Going under and coming up out of the water symbolised that a person had sincerely repented, and he was,so to speak, dying to such a course and coming alive to renewed efforts at observing God's laws.Baptism is a public declaration of ones faith in God.Jehovah's Witnesses take baptism very seriously. It is a promise made to Jehovah God that they are dedicating their life to doing God's will.
Infant baptism is not scriptural

we take a mini swimming pool and fill it outside the school we meet at and then at the end of the service we all go out and watch the baptism! The person being baptized gives their testimony gets submerged and then we all pray!

I'm so glad you made your commitment to follow Jesus...
Baptism is very important.. it is when you confess that you are a follower of christ to the public...
Jesus Himself made the example of baptizing at the river of Jordan..
We follow Jesus's example by being immersed by a pastor or elder...
before John baptizes people, he askes them to repent of their sins.. so we must have true repentence and confess our sins before we baptize...
Baptizing doesn't mean a comfortable walk in life afterwards..
Jesus, faces temptation after His baptizm.. very often, when we reach the summit, before us lies the valley of death...
But never fear, with Emmanuel, God with us, we will conquer...
Rely on Him and not on ourselves, that He may deliver us..
and always look unto Jesus, the authour and fininsher of our faith, that we may follow His example.. who for the joy the was set before Him, despised the shame and endured the cross... we too must depise the shame.. and endure suffering...
then we will with Jesus, sit at the right hand of God...

In our church when a person is baptized, they are immersed for a second in water. It symbolizes being a new creature in Christ and dieing to self. How awesome!

We dunk people, or immerse, them to represent the burial with Christ and then the resurrection with Him. It could be done anywhere where you have enough water to cover a person.
I'm glad you're being obedient to His command to be baptized. God bless!
