My cat is male, and my girlfriend's is female, both fixed. Every once in a while, they'll just pee on something. Today, my 9 month-old daughter started crying in her playpen, and when I went to see what was wrong, she was screaming and holding up one of her favorite toys, which was SOAKED with cat pee! Should I just throw them out, or is there something I can do to stop them?

A lot of times cats that pee outside the litter box have a bladder infection which is common in cats. If you can figure which one is doing it, maybe take it to the vet. But it could be a territorial thing.

I to wish I had THE answer. I had a male that did the same thing. Where did you adopt your male cat from ? Mine was a feral cat that we brought in to the house at about 9 months old and he and my other male had constant wars of who's the top cat. I never did totally break him of the habit. The vet will suggest a pheromone spray but I tried it and it didn't stop the peeing/spraying. I wish you tons of luck !! Invest in lots of "Nature's Miracle" a good product to remove the smell !!

It's a territory war, trying to show who's "boss cat." Wish I had a good solution for you, our cat did the same thing on piles of laundry when we got a new pet. Very frustrating. Kitty had to go outside, which was better than the option my husband was in favor of (like flying lessons.) I hope someone else has a better answer for you, I'll be watching. Pet therapy, maybe?
