Could it be because the world hated and crucified Jesus, and because we are followers of Jesus the world hates us, too? For, as it says in the bible, no servant is greater than their master.

In America, it's not so much physical violence, but it's constant public insults, mockery, ridicule, and censorship of public expression of our religion.

But in other parts of the world Christians are even killed for being Christian. This happens routinely in Africa, Central and South America, many parts of Asia (3 teen Christian school girls were beheaded for being Christian in Indonesia), and India.

Jesus once said a powerful thing concerning this, " Remember the words I spoke to you: 'No servant is greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also." (John 15:20) but He's given us incentive too, " "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me." (Matthew 5:11) " Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 5:10)

The world doesn't want to hear the Gospel message because it exposes their sin. Little do they know that that sin can be forgiven through the blood of Jesus Christ.

I think missionaries get persecuted because they arrogant enough to think they have all the right answers.

In actuality ALL RELIGION is philosophies thought up by humans. Its good that you have faith, but don't push it on others.

If you want to know about persecution try being a Wiccan who died for your country and getting buried at a veteran's cemetary. They don't allow our religious symbols.

i can state WAY more cases of Wiccans being persecuted. I'd like to see you and I switch places for a week. You'd be happy that your religion is so accepted in society and not misjudged and feared.

Have you ever gotten your home vandalized for just being Xian? I think not. Well Christians killed my cat and tried to set fire to my house. I've had windows broken. I've lost jobs. All because I'm a proud Wiccan.
NOt to mention Muslims, Scientologists, Native Americans, Mormons. Buddhists, Hindus, Jews, Athests, Unitarians, Gnostics, Satanists. Voodoo/Houdoo practicioners, Gnostics, Agnostics, etc. (sorry if I forgot anyone) ANd those are just the religious persecutions. What about Blacks, Arabs,Hispanics, Indians, Gays/Lesbian/Bisexual/transexual/transgendered, Polyamorous,
HIV positive people, the disabled, veterans, the poor, mixed race couples, childless couples, ex convicts, recovering alcoholics/addicts, the elderly, people in underdeveloped countries, the homeless, etc.

These are groups that have all been repressed and persecuted more than Christians.

Christians think its persecution that they take the 10 commandments out of public places. Well those places are for EVERYONE. Not just Christians. its not persecution, that is political correctness.

Let's not drag the Innocent into this...

Think of it more as a backlash or reverse persecution of what "Christians, in particular Catholics and missionaries," have been GUILTY OF, and that is: PERSECUTING the rest of the world FOR CENTURIES AND CENTURIES through the Dark Ages... and even up to now!

It's time to 'fess up, be HONEST, and admit to it, folks...

Catholics certainly look down on other non-Catholic [albeit Christian] Protestants, the Jews, the Moslems, the Buddhists, the Hindus, etc. and they label everyone to be "heretical" --a word invented by the Mother Church herself. And once you question the Church, then you get excommunicated too! So that puts the Holy See under duress at the very least.

Meanwhile, back in the woods, the bible-thumping zealot Christians of all ilk, from tens of thousands of different denominations, FORCE themselves en masse on others as they incessantly breath down their self-righteous "fires of hell" on everybody else's neck for not belonging to their one-and-only true snake-handling church! Whoa... there Nelly. That's allegorical but you get the drift.

Let's face it, WHO REALLY is making a whole, perverse mockery of what Christianity is supposed to be anyway, if not those same "Christian" HYPOCRITES who can't see the lumber in their own eyes to begin with? Am I right or am I right??

So now, if YOU can get rid of that MAJOR PROBLEM in one fell swoop then maybe --just maybe-- all other non-Christians and the well-meaning Silent Majority of Christians will also become more tolerant of each other, and then the world shall have gotten rid of persecution and mankind shall see Peace once and for all.

And YOU, sir, will be awarded the Purple Heart Joan of Arc Medal of Honor by the masses. That's Guaranteed, mon ami!!

Make any sense to you? It sure does to me...

Peace be with you!

LOL

Thats luaghable..... Maybe a little..... but christianity gives 100 times the ridicule and censorship to everyone else......

Now it's wrong that the christans that don't do that sorta thing get treated badlly, but the rest have got whats coming to them when it happens to them.

Outside the US it's a shame what happens to them, but here... oh gah... you think they wouldn't do it to others considering what happens to them in other places *shakes head*

Nothing is more irritating than an Evangelical. Someone who is convinced that their religion is the One True Path, that all others are False Deceptions, and try to convert others to their faith. Is it that people hate Christians, or that people dont like being pressured to change their religion. The country where those 3 teens were executed is an Islamic country, by the way. You know how people make fun of Jehovah Witnesses? It's becuase they are pushy, invade your space, and wont' leave you alone.

Catholics have a history of supporting leftist groups. The last Pope told them to knock it off after some nuns were killed in El Salvador.
Africans are incredibly barbaric, anyhow. If they have no qualms about massacring each other, why should a few missionaries who refuse to pledge allegiance be any different?

Asia's largely Muslim. Need I say more?

And where do you live? And in what century? What about the holocaust? Genocide in Rwanda? The Sunni/Shia conflict? Native Americans? Muslims? Buddhists? Taoists? Atheists? Satanists? Gays/lesbians? Trans/bisexuals? Little people? Handicapped people? Veterans? Pagans? Alcoholics? Drug Addicts? Blue haired, tongue pierced Goths? Tattooed persons? Childless couples? Blacks? Hispanics? Immigrants? Should I go on? You really need to check yourself. Most people are persecuted by cross wielding Christians--remember the holy crusades? Banning gay marriage? Blaming the Jews for Jesus' death? Parading thru the Middle East? Ignoring Africans? The Balkans? I am so sick of people who have sooo much more than others trying to play the martyr. Did Dolly Parton say in a movie ..."get down off the cross, honey...somebody needs the wood!" Christians are not the most persecuted people in the world. And certainly not just because they follow Jesus. Other religions do accept Jesus as a man and prophet. Christians are persecuted for the same reasons as others...IGNORANCE AND BIGOTRY! People always try to do away with that which is different and that they do not understand. The BIBLE also says "my house will be a house for all nations!” How about trying tolerance and acceptance. Instead of Christians trying to push their beliefs on the world, maybe they could try listening and respecting another's views. If you really try to learn about other religions, you will find that you share many things. Most Hindus believe that in your lives, you may appear as a Christian on your path to nirvana. They accept Christ as a prophet, just as Mohammed. Islam is much like Judaism and is relative to the Old Testament as well (accepting that Christ was here as a prophet). Mockery, insults and censorship are the result of other uneducated and ignorant people. Not everyone who lives in America is Christian--therefore not everyone believes in Christian values...not all Christians believe in the same things for that matter. So when you are censored in schools, it's because I don't want my child to be forced to learn about a religious premise that I believe can be solved thru science, when your god is removed from American currency, it's because not all Americans are godly believers are their rights shouldn't be censored either. When your commandments are removed from government buildings, it's because the law provides for a separation of church and state so that those who do not believe are treated fairly. When you’re insulted for ignoring the Jews during the holocaust, it's because the "Christen worlds (America)" did, just like Rwanda and Dhafur. When the Iraq's scream they hate Christians and Americans, it's because they see seemingly righteous, Christian, Democratic, God fearing people killing them and destroying their homes for oil and their political/political differences. Just try and understand yours isn't the only belief there is. The more you learn about others, the more common ground you will find and you will discover the persecution can end when you educate yourself and those around to accept and tolerate others rights. AND BY THE WAY--- I happen to be a bisexual, married, tattooed mother of one, who supports legalizing Gay Marriage, ending the Oil war in Iraq, helping the immigrants, apologizing to the Jews, Japanese, Native Americans and others who have been persecuted, removing god from school and money and government, helping the people in Dhafur and Africa and America, teaching our children to read, getting off oil, saving the planet Christian!!!!

You are so full of shiate your avatar's eyes are brown. If you want to get into a persecution measuring contest, any Jew would beat you by a factor of 1,000.

What about blacks? They're persecuted more than Christians. And they never even chose to be black.

Why are you complaining anyway? The early Christians loved persecution. "Blessed are you when people persecute you," remember? And what about "Bless those who curse you, pray for those who persecute you"? Being persecuted is one of the best things that can happen to you, according to the new testament. You should be THANKING those people for persecuting you instead of complaining, you big crybaby.

For Christmas a pair years in the past, my oldest boy asked me to jot down out the Lords Prayer in Ukrainian - actually, contained in the English language approximation of Ukrainian sounds, yet you get the assumption.. He need no longer have stricken because of the fact God speaks the two languages, and he's already heard that prayer formerly. however the little bubba did that to honor his Grandmother, my mom. She additionally did no longer technically choose the interpretation in view that she's a polyglot, and has heard it formerly besides.. the finished component of him making that tape grew to become into to honor her, a similar way i attempt to honor contributors of the eternal Church once I pray in Latin. contained in a similar way, you may honor recommendations of your father by using doing those prayers in Latin.
