It depends on the tempure of your place. But, most likely it can because of the dairy in cottage cheese. You have to be careful. I would just play it safe and buy another one.

Having done this on a number of occaisons myself, I can safely say, "No." But the holding time is dramatically reduced before the taste is altered. I've had it start to sour in just a couple more days as opposed to several weeks otherwise.

Maybe. How hot was the environment it was in? If you smell it and are still in doubt, don't eat it.
