Most cities in China are extremely cheap if you are aware.Three star hotels cost less than $20 USD a night. A meal can be as cheap as $0.30 USD. Large bottle of beer $0.20. Cigarettes vary from $0.20 to $12.50 a packet. Buses cost $0.16 to $0.25 for several kilometres. Phones are cheap. My pre-paid mobile costs me about $10 a month and international calls, available with the use of an ISP card are delightfully cheap. A call from Shanghai to Sydney costs about $10 an hour.

Obviously the people answering before havent traveled much! LOL If you are looking for clean and safe in a 1st world country anywhere in New Zealand outside of Auckland If the 3rd world doesn't bother you there are tons of places. Depend on what you are looking for, there are many nice places in the Philippines, Thailand, Ecuador, Guatemala. you need to be more specific when asking questions in the future

If you are travelling out of the country, I suggest Bangkok, Thailand but if you look for cleanest, it is Singapore.
