You may suffer from insulin resistence. People with IR tend to carry their weight around their mid section and have a hard time taking thier belly weight off. The South Beach Diet and the GI Diet are good books that will teach you how to lose belly fat by eating specific foods.

Also, in general not eating does not promote weight loss and just isn't a good idea.

If you are 41, consider this. How long have you had this belly? Your body tries to maintain homeostasis by limiting the amount of changes it will allow. We all have a baseline weight, blood pressure, blood levels, etc. If you are trying to waver from your baseline weight you must burn more calories than you consume in a day. Once you break the "baseline plateau" it will be easier to keep the momentum and continue losing. Also the belly fat is the absolute most difficult to get rid of. It is very stubborn so be consistent. And try not to skip meals. It is better to eat smaller portions more frequently. When you skip a meal your body goes into starvation mode and starts storing calories in those belly fat cells for reserves. Eating more frequently keeps your metabolism moving faster. Just don't give up.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.

The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.

Get started today!

i suggest you do sit-ups. start with 50 a day for the 1st week and then add more gradually after that. if you feel sour on the belly, it is a good sign and means your fat is burning away. keep up and do not give up until you are happy with your shape and weight.

having no food after 6 is great but you should have all 3 meals (light ones). do not skip lunch cause this would make you hungry and eat a lot more for dinner.

This one is tough. Make sure you're not eating foods with a lot of salt. Salt causes bloating. No beer. Also, no sucralose (splenda). Artificial foods cause bloating. The fact is that this may just be your body type. That's why liposuction has become so popular. These days, lipo is an outpatient procedure. Consult a doctor and consider having this done. If your belly is really bothering you, lipo is totally worth it.

Doing situps and crunches will do nothing for your belly fat. You cannot reduce fat in only one area of your body. That is known as spot-reduction and it is a myth.

Never skip meals. Ever. As we get older our metabolisms slow down. You need to speed your body up. Eat smaller meals more frequently. Six meals a day (that includes a mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack) is a good place to start.

Give your body a body a good macro-nutrient balance (eg 40% of the food you eat should be protein, 40% carbohydrates, 20% fat or something like that).

Exercise. Cardio like walking (especially up hills) is good, but combining this with weight training is the best. Use your muscles. As someone else said, they burn calories even when you are at rest.

Drink lots of water. Your body needs water to burn fat and to clean itself out.

Eat vegetables. Especially non-starchy ones like asparagus, brocoli, spinach, cauliflower. Beans are good too. Vegetables are your friend.

There are tons of excercises that concentrate on your abs and sides, not just crunches. One is sitting with a free weight or machine and turning to one side while keeping your back straight for 12 reps, then alternate sides. You can also lay on your back, lift your legs in the air and bent at the knees as if sitting down, then lower to one side holding just above the ground, hold for three counts, and slowly raise them...12 reps to each side, 2-3 sets. If nothing else get a subscription to a fitness magazine or pay for a trainer at a gym for a couple months, then just keep it up on your own.

Well as I understand it the older you get the harder it is to loose it. My husband is 50 and thought he could just drop off the weight he gained with me during pregnancy and he is haviong a hard time too unfortunately. We can't loose it like we use to in our 30's when we are 40+. There is always lipo too lol. That's what I would do lol. blackhawkplasticsurgery.com Dr. Stephen Ronin

Do exercises and build muscle. The muscle burns fat simply by existing, so once you build up enough muscle the fat will be gone. Lift weights and such--don't just do cardio exercises like running.
