Yes when u send a mail a header goes with the mail which contain al info about sender and path. One can find out IP address from that header

It is amazing what hackers are capable of, but I do not know if they can get you through your IP addy alone. I do know from experience that a person's IP addy can show up on the emails they send out. But I am sure it depends on the provider. I have never heard of anyone being hacked through IM. Just be cautious about the links you click on through IM.

They can get your Internet provider's IP from the email header, if they can track the data package, they can finally see your IP. But it's hard thing to do, in my country, it only can be done if you have the permittion from the ISP and the police dept.

No, they can't get your IP if you email them.
However, it is possible for them to get your IP if you instant message them--IIRC, on MSN messenger they can get it anytime they're talking to you, and on AIM if you direct connect.
Just having somebody's IP doesn't make them super-easy to hack, though, nor is it likely that everybody (or even anybody) you talk to on an instant messenger is going to want to hack you.
