I read somewhere that he was tortured and crucified because of all the miracles he performed, and had to pay in suffering, for all the suffering he healed others of.

Can this be?

I think no one will ever fully understand its significance including me. Some say that it is because He has to do it to save mankind from the bondage of sin. Some say that the supreme sacrifice has to be done so that mankind will be able to see the essence of life by conquering death. Some interpret it as a total expression of God for his total love of mankind, some don't even believe that it happened and some don't give a damn at all.

But what does it reallt mean? I am a Christian but am not an authority in interpreting such Biblical phenomenon. I myself was at a loss when I was younger, so restless and careless that I didn't care so much about what Jesus did and knew about it only because my parents told me so. I was free and never understood that I was commiting sin left and right because I thought that I can do anything I like being a free man living in a democratic society where no one can tell or dictate to me what should be done. I solely depended on my limited knowledge, proud enough to think that I can overcome any obstacle. Then something went wrong along the way, so wrong that I couldn't find a way to fix some crisis I was in. Suddenly, I was facing the wall and couldn't get through, everything went blank and there was no answer. I was about to give up and say, that's it, for this world then out of I don't know where, I felt like someone's calling me saying, "look at me, look at me, is the heaviness of your heart more than what I have done for you in that you have to fall so hard"? I did this so that you may live.

I was not fond of reading and I don't know why I just picked up the Holy Bible and started reading. As a Catholic I was not raised to be a Bible reader but later found out that no book can equal the wisdom that it contains. I started to realign my crooked life and started to make sense. I became a sensible person and wise in my own right but not judgemental in a way that I would show people that they are sinners but that they too have been saved and should lead a straight path.

Now, all the troubles are gone and I can see only light even in my darkest hours. I gain strength in every challenge that I face and face it squarely with Christ to follow. That was the time when I knew the reason why He was crucified.

Just about everyone who has seriously studied the question will say that Jesus existed, and was crucified. Why is a question that no one seems to have a good answer for. Theologically, it was because that was the way God provided for the forgiveness of our sins. Historically (i.e. ignoring the possibility of God's plan, although that is tough when it come to Jesus), he seems to have been considered a threat to the Romans. This is possibly because he attacked the moneychangers in the Temple, and thus threatened the Sadduccees and priests, who were, if not allies of Rome, at least the most cooperative party in Jerusalem.

Jesus was crucified because He came down from Heaven in a physical body and taught the Truth. He was making a way for us to know Him and remain with Him for eternity. He was crucified because the Pharisees (Jewish religious leaders) didn't like being convicted. Jesus shone light on to their darkness, and they didn't like that. So, although He did nothing wrong and came only to teach us, He loved us so much that He took our sins, past, present and future, and gave Himself as the ultimate Sacrifice for us. Now, instead of religion (Man reaching toward God), knowing the one true God became a relationship, with God loving us so much that He reached towards us. (John 3:16). He gave Himself so that we could be forgiven, and enter into Heaven when we die. We don't get their by our own works though, it is only by grace through faith. Romans 3:27 speaks of how salvation is not by works but the grace of God. I don't know if you are a Christian or not, but either way go talk to a Christian pastor, he will help you more than I can.

there are a variety of of causes given for his Crucifixion. None of them carry water. Jews do no longer crucify people. They stoned them. Romans crucify those that are thieves and violators of the Roman rule.man or woman who claims or is asserted to have claimed that they're a son of G-d should be Treason to the Romans. Romans crucify those who dedicate Treason. The communicate that befell with Pilate is actual one of the most debatable writings of what fairly befell. at the same time as there is doubt interior the communicate there won't be able to be a foundation for actuality. to that end, why Jesus became crucified (if actually he became) it does no longer were on the palms of the Jews which we were all led to have self belief. at the same time as are the Romans or Roman Catholic church ever going to admit their involvement? They conceal each and every thing else that contradicts their practise, what makes you so particular they were given this proper?

Jesus was crucified (the form of capital punishment at that time) because he claimed to be the Son of God and equal to him. He was put on trial because the Jewish people claimed that he was the biggest heretic of their day because of his shocking claim of being equal to God. It was Gods will that he suffered and died this way and hence became the perfect sacrifice needed for atonement of all sins. When he died he went to hell and took the keys and then came back before going to be with God. He is still very much alive and lives forevermore. You can find the prophesy of his Crucifixion (the suffering servant) in Isaiah 53 but not just there but in hundreds of places in the bible.... Note to the guy who said he never existed, that is like saying that Hitler never existed, there is so much history written about him(Jesus), and as a matter of fact our very calendar exists because of him 400BC and 2006 AD...hummm ,surely you can come up with something better to say to show your unbelief. But to say a person never existed well that is a stretch.

Adam and Eve were created perfect and were designed to live forever. This was God's purpose for mankind.
However, when they sinned, they began to age and eventually died.As offspring of the first human pair,we all inherit this sin and death as a result.
But Jehovah in his loving wisdom, allowed his only begotten son,to come down to earth as a perfect human and offer that perfect human life as a ransom sacrifice to balance the scales of justice,so to speak. And get back for mankind what Adam had lost and that is perfection and everlasting life.
John 3:16-"God loved the world so much, that he gave his only begotten son,in order that everyone exercising faith in him, might not be destroyed but have everlasting life"
John 17:3-"This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you,the only true God,and of the one whom you sent forth,Jesus Christ."

The Bible should be your only guide

Of course not. Eternal Logos cannot be crucified, and the divine cannot die. Bible version is nonsense. However Jesus was crucified to be sure. And people have mixed the two and that is why Christians mistakenly call Jesus god and why Muslims mistakenly say Jesus was "swapped".

Jesus was tortured then crucified for all of our sins and for all non believers He is real. If you really believe in prayer, when you truly pray and focus on Jesus you will feel a spiritual presence all over you. It is a awesome experience when His spirit is upon you.

NO.He willingly suffered and died on the Cross because we all sin.The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.The only payment for sin is death.Jesus not only died on the cross He rose to life again the third day. Please allow Him to forgive you and become a Christian.

It beats me.

The all powerful creator couldn't just forgive people, without the crucifixion?

The previous pope forgave the guy who shot him.

Alexander Pope said:

To ere is human,
To forgive is divine.

Christians seem to reverse the idea.

We can't have forgiveness, without the intermediary, who is both divine and human.
