Immigrants deserve rights because:

1. They entered the country legally.

That's the only answer I can give you. But I think they only deserve rights once they are citizens.

Immigrants or illegal immigrants?

Everyone deserves human rights.

Only citizens deserve rights of citizens.

Immigrants deserve the same human rights as any other human being.

Illegal Immigrants do not deserve rights granted by country they are not members of.

I'm afraid you are going to have to disapoint your liberal teacher.

2) If we make them citizens, we can tax them and have more money for Social Security and Welfare
3) Its the right thing to do (we aren't a bigoted nation, hence we should look decent in the eyes of the world)
4) NAFTA (We are a global community)
5) I said so (There I said it)
6) Love thy neighbor! (Good Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, and Jews agree....treat others they way you would want to be treated.)

They're human beings, what are you thinking, they're some sort of "different class or belong to a different category" to you? They most of the time, have nothing on the country their immigrating to, and sometimes in their home countries too. Most of the time can't even speak the same language, earn very low wages, work very hard, have to maintanin their families, they EAT like u and me, they need clothing for winter!!! they need education, they also get sick, they need doctors and medicine!!

There are degrees of rights, and immigrants should be accorded certain rights as a means of allowing them to participate in their new country. For example, the right of mobility, the freedom of speech, etc.

Through the process of participation, they should be able to demonstrate their commitment to their host country. Eventually, over time, the degrees of rights should expand up to and including the opportunity to apply for full participation as a citizen. .
