An unborn baby's right to life should have priority over a woman's right to choose. No woman or man should have the power to decide if a baby is allowed to live. Pro-choice advocates believe women's rights are being jeopardized when the right to an abortion is taken away. The pro-choice camp fails to take into account that the baby has a right to life. A woman's rights over her body do not give her the right to an abortion (Schwarz). If a woman has rights over her body, then the unborn baby has those rights too. The child has the right not to be killed. The appeal to a woman's right over her body as a justification for abortion backfires because the right must also be extended to the child (Schwarz). All things considered, abortion is not made justifiable by appealing to women's rights over their bodies.

According to abortionfacts.com this Testimony of abortion survivor Gianna Jessen was very chilling and scary. As I was reading through her story I felt sad and thought to my self why would someone one to do that to a living thing. Her biological mother was 17 years old and seven and one-half months pregnant when she made the decision to have a saline abortion. Gianna Jessen is 19 today and still strong. She has cerebral palsy. She said, “The best thing I can show you to defend life is my life. It has been a great gift. Killing is not the answer to any question or situation. Show me how it is the answer.” There is a quote, which is etched into the high ceilings of one of our state's capitol buildings. The quote says, "Whatever is morally wrong, is not politically correct." Abortion is morally wrong. Our country is shedding the blood of the innocent. America is killing its future. All life is valuable. All life is a gift from our Creator. We must receive and cherish the gifts we are given. We must honor the right to life (abortionfacts.com)

Roe v. Wade is the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court decision that recognized that a woman has a constitutional right to decide whether to continue her pregnancy. The Court also ruled, however, that after fetal viability, states may restrict or ban abortions entirely, except when necessary to protect the woman’s life or health. Immediately following the Supreme Court decision in 1973, the number of legal abortions increased rapidly for several reasons. Legal abortions replaced those that would have occurred clandestinely; the number of physicians trained and experienced in the procedure increased; and a nationwide network of abortion clinics was established, enabling women who would previously have had an illegal abortion, or who would not have had one at all, to do so legally and safely (Gold RB). In 1992, the Court reaffirmed the right to abortion in Planned Parenthood v. Casey. However, the ruling significantly weakened the legal protections previously afforded women and physicians by giving states the right to enact restrictions that do not create an "undue burden" for women seeking abortion.

In summary, Gianna Jessen's doctor sucks at performing abortions.... No but seriously, this is a touchy subject which will never get a straight answer. Both sides make very strong arguments which leads me to believe that it should be left up to the individual to decided the outcome, and not a governing body.

Sure, I'll rephrase it.

This is America, home of the free.....women who are alive have rights, not blobs of cells. We have the right of choice.
