of course nothing happend. And she really believed it too i could see her eyes sparkling with light and hope as she was telling me this as she was telling me in detail that i will descend into the depths of hell as my flesh is ripped apart by demons. How pathetic and naive can these christians get? They'll believe anything they read and see and whatever is written in the bible

...& she calls herself a christian?

Apparently she was a "Christian" who never read the Bible. Sometimes those people only serve God by being a bad example. Nothing like that is even in the Bible. The number 666 is associated by the anti- Christ... but it has something to do with buying and selling.
Nothing about dying on 06-06-2006 nor demons ripping your flesh. SORRY for the people who actually believed this. It is just not in there. You should tell her too.

Its almost 06-07-2006 and nothing happened. It was and is just an ordinary day. People were born and died. I helped get ready for a benefit yard sale. Forgot that this was that day.

That is certainly not in the Bible (by the way, if you are in Eastern Dalight time, you are now home free, but be careful if you are west of there!). The only thing in the Bible about 666 (and maybe is about 616) is a puzzle about who John (the writer of Revelation ) was really writing about when he wrote about the Beast. He said it is "man's number". All sorts of guesses have been offered for that one from thoughtful to idiotic. (Your friend tends toward the right end of that scale) Two of the best guesses are: 1. Nero. John was probably writing in the late first century, after the first great persecution of Christians, and his name happens to be 666 when you add up the letters of his name (letters were used as numerals at that time) with some spelling and in some language, I forget which. 2. Not anybody's name at all, but a description of "divine" (the number 3) "imperfection" (1 short of the perfect number 7), in other words a human setting himself up to be God.

I wish you weren't an atheist, but I have absolutely no interest in seeing you torn apart by demons. Good luck. If you live in Chicago, you only have to make it another 45 minutes!

By the way, I am a Christian and that person was pathetic. The Bible does not say anything about aethiests dying on 6/6/6.

I can't say whether or not that person was a true Christian, but the Bible tells us not to judge. And by that it means not to say whether or not someone else is a Christian or going to hell or Heaven, etc. Only Jesus can judge.

Not meaning to ask a stupid question... but what part of the bible did they read? There are Christians and there are religious fanatics who will believe anything you put in front of them. When this person became judge and jury, you should have let them know that when it's all said and done...you'll be waiting for them when they get there!!!! Enjoy 6/7/06!!!!!

I don't think he has a lame story. I believe it. It does not matter what religion or belief, there are always a few fanatic nuts that ruin reputations for everyone else. Like a few others have said, there is no proof that anything is supposed to happen at a time when the dates are 666.

"Then I saw another beast [see The Two Beasts] which rose out of the earth; it had two horns like a lamb [see The Great False Prophet] and it spoke like a dragon. It exercises all the authority of the first beast in its presence, and makes the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose mortal wound was healed. It works great signs, even making fire come down from heaven to earth in the sight of men; and by the signs which it is allowed to work in the presence of the beast, it deceives those who dwell on earth, bidding them make an image for the beast which was wounded by the sword and yet lived; and it was allowed to give breath to the image of the beast so that the image of the beast should even speak, and to cause those who would not worship the image of the beast to be slain. Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name."

"This calls for wisdom: let him who has understanding reckon the number of the beast, for it is a human number, its number is six hundred and sixty-six." (Revelation 13:1-18 RSV) [see The Mysterious "666"]

some "Christians" are abit obsessive with it. Some could be mentally unstable with the whole issue & take things too far. i just hope people could distinguish the difference that not all christians are as crazy as this lady that your talking about. i am a christian.. im a fairly good person and on 6.6.06 i didnt expect much to happen... its just an ordinary day. some things in the bible can sound abit absurd but hey... faith is about believing... if you believe in love and luck, then why cant u believe that jesus can exist?!? just a thought.

christians are ordinary people too and yes we can take jokes about ourselves... but for people to assume that we're all crazy and over the top just annoys us. anddd also what annoys us is people labelling us "Christians" its not like we walk around going .... those "atheist" said this and that about us ... we are human too. you dont always have to label some one as their religion type.

Happy to see your still alive, good for you. People who callthenselves christians and believe in such things do not understand the bible. They have been taught by fear and stupidity. Who else but the devil wants to confuse and mislead. The bible states that the dead are not aware of anything. So how can one burn in a so-called hell, which is not bible based.

I am a Christian and I am sorry that so called Christian told you that. It wasn't true as you have found out..you are still here. Thank goodness for that. As a atheist I do not know if you read the Bible perhaps if you would read the book of Revelations in it. perhaps it would help in undrstanding somewhat.
