Your dog is in heat. She will do that for three weeks every six months. If you don't want her pregnant than it is best to get her fixed. Don't take your eyes off of her when you let her outside. A male dog will do anything to get to her. Even bite if he thinks you are scared. The male can also get her though a fence, so keep your eyes on her at all times while she is in heat.

Yes, a female dog has periods, but they are called "being in heat". Some females will have only a small amount of blood, while others have so much that you need to restrict what rooms they are to stay out of. At most pet stores, they sell a product that is like pampers for a baby, only for a dog.

Yes if they are not spayed. It is called "being in season" or "being in heat". It is when they can become pregnant so keep her away from any unneutered male dogs until the bleeding stops.

If she is spayed then I would consult with your vet to rule out any other problems.

Male dogs can smell a female in heat from quite a distance and will do everything they can to get to her. So keep her inside as much as you can.

Also to keep her from staining anything go to your pet store and buy a product for dogs "in heat". It looks like a diaper and you put it on her with a normal maxi pad in it. If you don't put a pad in you will have to wash it regularly. Also in order for her to be able to go to the bathroom you must take it off. I will also make it more difficult for a male to penetrate her, through it is not 100% effective. Males are very determined to mate with a female in heat.

Please consider spaying her if she is not of breeding quality and/or you don't want to breed her. There are far too many dogs in shelters, with rescue organizations and in foster homes. Also spaying your dog will help to prevent future health issues.

Good luck and be proactive or else you might end up with a litter of puppies that you don't want.

When female dogs are in heat, there is a blood tinged discharge from the vulva (vagina). If you do not intend to let her be bred it is important to keep her confined where male dogs can not get to her when you are not with her. It is necessary to do this for at least 3 weeks. It is possible to spay a female dog when she is in heat (some vets are uncomfortable doing this but most are willing). If you are planning on getting her spayed anyway you might want to discuss this with your vet.

If female dogs are not spayed then yes she will come into season, sometimes 2 times a year. You really should take her to the Vet for a check up and to schedule an appointment to get her spayed.

Its called heat. Its when a female dog is getting ready to be bred she drops blood.I suggest that you get a book on dogs and read it. This should only last 1 week. After that you can take her to the vet and have her spayed .

She's in heat. Keep her away from male dogs, but expect a lot of boy dogs sniffing in your yard. The urine attracts them from miles. Schedule a hysterectomy.

Yup, dogs have periods, but with much less frequency than humans. And it's ok that there's not much blood.

You will have dogs howling outside your door all night. She is not safe as has been stated many times before.
Get her fixed or don't even let her outside.
Another dog will mount her even if you are walking her, they don't care what you do or say.
