Serious answers preferred. We are two homeschool moms who's hubbies are taking over the duties for a couple of days. We are actually able fly to most desitinations at no cost, related to relatives employment, orginating out of Memphis. I am posting it here because I am hoping some like-minded homeschool moms will give me some great ideas to pick from. Think it over and share your thoughts with me!! God Bless.

Go to Washington, Dc.. Are you saying that your 400 dollars has to cover hotel and food? In dc, stay at the Holiday Inn downtown across from the department of eduacation. Its only a few blocks from the Smithsonian and the national mall. Visiting national monuments is usually free as well as touring the capital and the whitehouse (make arrangements through your representative's office). Food isn't too expensive, there are lots of those street food vendors and some nice little delis.

Funny, before reading the responses, my first thought was also Vegas :-)

Is there a museum you've always wanted to visit (Smithsonian, NY's Museum of Modern Art, etc.)? Maybe Hershey, PA and tour the Hershey factory. DC is great for all the historical stuff. How about just spending a relaxing three days on the beaches of North Carolina? What about Cape Canaveral, Florida (Kennedy Space Center)?

Wow, now that I'm thinking about it, there's LOTS of places to go. Can I come, too? :-)

Whatever you two do, just enjoy the break. I'm sure it is well-deserved.

my suggestion, go somewhere you might want to take a family vacation that could double as a field trip. Washington DC area is great. Virginia and Pennsylvania would be great educational stops too. I realize you'd like to do something for yourself, but $200 isn't much especially if you're talking spa treatments or shopping.

NYC is a great place to go for the weekend. Stay in Jersey and take the ferry across to NY then get a taxi to a touristy area and walk from there.

Chicago is a great place too!
Hope you have a great time!

That is SO HARD!

Everything I'm thinking of to tell you, I keep thinking,"Nah, I'd want to take the kids there." I guess that's the one down side to homeschooling, at least for me, that a break from my kids makes me sad!...and I wouldn't want them to miss out on whatever I'd be doing. I'd probably spend as little as possible and use the rest to buy some more curricuIum! LOL!

I guess it would have to be something like a spa...massage...just having quiet without a million questions thrown at me each day. Lounging on the beach would be nice - no lifeguard duty.

WOW! You are SO BLESSED!

$200 is not alot to spend if you have to consider food, hotel, and entertainment. So what I would do is stay close to or nearby home and find a great spa to go to. Or you can go shopping or to a movie. Stay at a nice but cheap hotel and just relax. Have fun!

Everyone seems to have a good time in Vegas, but I would think to go somewhere that serves your interests, or somewhere you haven't been before but would like to.

What about a visit to one of our National Parks ?

Myself, I would go visit family and check out the local zoo.

:)
