first answer 4096: 1x4=4,4x4=16,16x4=256,256x4=1024,1024x4=4096
second answer 1457: 4 and 3 are the missing equation. 4 starts the riddle. multiply each time by 3 and get the next number.
1+4=5
5+12=17 4x3=12
17+36=53 12x3=36
53+108=161 36x3=108
161+324=485 108x3=324
485+972=1457 324x3=972

The answer to the first list is 4096 and the answer to the second is 1457.
The reasoning. On the first one deals with square roots. The square root of 1 is one, the square root (sq) of 4 is 2, the sq of 16 is 4, the sq of 64 is 8, the sq of 256 is 16, and the sq of 1024 is 32. If you notice the square roots they are 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, and 32. Each is multiplied by 2. So you take 32 and multiply it by 2 to get 64. Then you take 64 and square it.
The second explanation is a little bit more tricky. You take 5-1 to get 4. 17-5 to get 12. 53-17 to get 36. 161-53 to get 108. And 485-161 to get 324. Now.....If you take the answer to the first one (5-1=4) and multiply it by 3 you get the answer to the second one (17-5). Then multiply the other answers to get the others. Then you take the answer of the last one (485-161= 324) and multiply it by 3 (324*3) and get 972. Then you take 972 and add it to 485 to get 1457.

4096. Its 4 to the 6th power
972. Not sure how i broke it down but heres how i got it.
4,12,36,108,324,972. Each number is a multiplied by 3 to get the next 1. i think u take the higher number and subtact the lower number and multiply by 3. 161-53=108*3=324
