I work in a retail store and I have a lot of Hispanics who shop there. I have to have a zip code to enter into the computer to scan their items. Most of them do not speak English.

If you are dealing with a customer, I would use the most polite forms available. I'd go with
"¿Podría tener su código postal?"
The "podría" is more polite than "puedo" and "su" is the usted form instead of the tú form.

And the previous answerer is right; you should be ready to hear the responses in Spanish. Spanish speakers often give numbers in two digit chunks, especially phone numbers, so you should be prepared for that too.

the literal translation of "may i have your zip code?" sounds kinda weird in spanish the the following 2 ways of asking will work just the same.

Cual es su codigo postal? = What is your zip code?

Me podria decir su codigo postal por favor? = Could you please tell me your zip code?

-You use "puedes" and "tu" if you're talking to someone your same age or around there.
-You use "puede" and "su" if you're talking to an older person.

(This is the polite way to ask, again it sounds better when you're talking to an older person.)
