I used to be a very picky eater. If Mom made something I didn't like which was often, I ate a peanut butter sandwich. I didn't like most cooked veggies so I ate them raw. Eventually I grew out of that and am so lucky my daughter likes just about everything. One of the things I have always done is prepare "platters" for her with healthy stuff for snacks or supper if she missed it (she's a teen so is always on the go). These platters consist of a lot of different fruit, some cheese, raw veggies and a meat slice or two. Also a small container of cottage cheese or yogourt. She loves these mainly finger foods and I know that despite what she may have eaten the rest of the day, she is getting something healthy.

Take him to the dr. for a check-up and discuss the issue, give him a multi-vitamin, rid your house of junk food that can fill him with just a little bit due to the high fat content, keep a food journal on him (often times they eat more than you think) and communicate with the school/friends' parents/family to see what he's eating when he's not at home. Good luck, hopefully it's a phase and there is nothing to worry about...chances are if he plays well and lives normally there isn't much to fear.

You need to take your child too a doctor. And then you need to find out why you son hates too eat. And when you do make eating fun for your child. Make foods that your child would like to eat that are also good for him. You need to try everything that you can just to get your son to like the food that you prepare. Good luck

It is your job to provide food his to eat it. Offer no junk only healthy. If he misses junk food tell him when he has eaten 1 week of healthy food he can have a special treat. Until he eats all healthy food I would not give one iota of junk food. He is 8 years old not 2 he is old enough to understand why he needs to eat good food. get him checked by a peadiatrician

My sister's 1st son would not eat anything but fish sticks when he was young. He's now 15 and is healthy. Her youngest son is 11 and still only likes noodles, but he's healthy.
My youngest granddaughter rarely eats. She is a nibbler (I was the same). We just make sure she has healthy snacks all day long.

Besides taking him to the doctor, I would try to make him dinners that are healthy and have lot of calories. If he refuses to eat then tell him that he won't be able to play outside or take his favorite toy away. I'm sure that you'll get him to eat something that way.

I have the same problem with my son....when he was 2...he just stopped eating what I made....he only wanted Ramen Noodles or PB & J sandwhiches....maybe he is just being picky & you arent giving him what he wants......my son is now 8...I got tired of making meals for my & my daughter..then having to make something else for him...so I told him...either he tries what we are eating....or he needs to go to bed while we eat...then he can come make him something to eat....but I wasnt going to do it for him anymore...he is actually eating what we are now...with some minor adjustments...he doesnt like tomato sauces....or spaghetti sauce....so his noodles have butter on them....he will eat hamburgers now...IF there are no spices....things like that...it is a compromise....but he is eating now....try some ideas.....or ask him what he wants....he will eat when he is hungry....but it is what he eats that you to worry about.....GOOD LUCK!
